didn't he just say something along the lines of "ripping stems and playing them isn't the best on this device and it usually isn't in general. overall, i wouldn't recommend paying 200 to do"

generally, im pretty sure that this guy is a ye stan (at least music wise) so i dont think he intentionally tried to hate on ye

He spent a quarter of the video hypothesizing that eventually Kanye would steal user created mixes from the stemplayer app and release it as official music without paying or crediting anyone. I've never seen such a reach in my life

He fails to give the device any sort of props in how easy it is for users to load music and instantly start manipulating their music through a decent portable interface, and instead focuses on how the platform can't produce studio quality stems from an mp3 upload and how his fans are gonna be exploited by him through NFTs.

The player is actually pretty impressive as a stem ripper. The quality of the ripping (much less the technology of it) wasn’t available 5 years ago when this idea was first forming. It’s legitimately unfair to knock it when you don’t know how far technology has come to even allow something like this to be made.

With that being said, I don’t think it functions much besides a novelty because it assumes the average listener has an interest in listening to the individual components of a song. The technology is really helpful for producers, but why use it through the interface of the stem player and not an actual DAW?

yea that last quarter is a complete reach but he acknowledges that so i dont mind and he acknowledges that its easy to upload and manipulate stems but also gives suggestions for other, cheaper ways to load and manipulate music so again, i dont mind i dont think he has an agenda against kanye just because he gave him some criticism (some i agree with and some i dont)

also people will always hate people for trying new things unfortunately give it time the tide of history will change, and people will eventually get that it's about taking power away from the people who take power away from artists

Making it an app instead of a device seems like it would make more sense for more consumers, especially casuals

His alternatives are some professional PC programs that are probably way less accessible and intuitive then the stem player. He promotes those then complains about his issues with the stem player controls as if it isn't just 4 lines you slide your finger on.

The entire video just feels kinda useless. Obviously separating the stems won't be perfect. Anyone who would be interested in spending $200 on this would already know that. The entire "thought experiment" was also useless regardless of whether he acknowledges it or not.

Is it a very niche product and probably too expensive for just messing around with? Yeah. But this entire video just seems like a bunch of common sense knowledge about the technology that the stem player is based on, but portrayed as a criticism to justify calling it overpriced and detrimental to the music industry (which is stupid)
