idk how d boon did pretty much the same vocal style but it was never annoying or cheesy. idk bro I never got into black midi either but this just sounds so SO tryhard and ironic Im unable to get into it

its the type of music that if people actually listened to any of the 'original' artists that are being parodied here they'd call them old or corny or problematic or whatever (admittedly I made up this reason to be mad)

GG has a weird way of singing, its very understandable if you dont like it lol

for my money the whole thing of fast paced angular rhythm section heavy music truly starts with the minutemen. you could go back to krautrock and space rock if you want too but they really nailed the exact specific thing we'll hear from every young punkish rock band to this day

I can see that but this album isn't punk at all. I hear more Zappa & some prog bands than Minutemen.

Not so much on GG/Black Midi but Squid & Geese yeah.

It's quite strange yeah, especially since Morgan plays the drums on 3 tracks off this album.

The theatric singing my main issue. Its weird cause I always enjoyed it at black midi but this album feels to me too old and rustical. The singing the sound its like nostalgia baiting me for an era I could never feel nostalgic to. I feel old listening to this.

Black Midi always had a modern sound to this is clearly missing here. But it has standouts and songs I do enjoy. Holy Holy is still awesome and I listen to Magician a bit
