Most times it causes a delay. Music is my only joy and people appear to be your friend and seem helpful but sabotage your work in some way.
We have quality sessions when recording, he understands my talent/skill and dedication, we create quality sound and overall music as this is a lifelong passion.
But Especially when it's on your time and money, it's been infuriating being overly patient. I rather play things smart as things can go left as it tends to be between men. Best to do it in an intelligent manner
Passive aggressive behavior and indirection on his part is annoying. What do you guys suggest as solutions. I always conduct Normally I'm the one everyone comes to for solutions and I usually get no help

Happens 2 me too
Uh, pay your engineer? Get a new one? Lawyering up is gonna cost you more time and money than either of those.

pretty much this
ur kinda at his mercy until u pay him. if he takes any longer after then i’d address it. either way, prolly best to have another engineer on hand

Literally a lawyer and yeah this lol there's only so much we can do especially when you're not paying for services
Need more context. What was the deal you guys worked out beforehand? Did you guys even work out a deal?

This has happened before where I always pay studio time right after sessions. I used to pay him prior to getting drafts and it took far longer and some of the mixes weren't even .wav files, some muffled sounds that were missed. Granted I've gave benefit of the doubt too many times
Always grateful for the services, his work, I treat him every session with food etc, great vibes and creativity. But yea at this point, we'll see after paying
pay him if the music matters that much
get a new engineer or better yet set up a home setup
lawyer can’t really do anything here

You could've got OP with crazy billable hours. What a fumble

Not a deal, we've been working for over a year now.
We basically do hours in the studio together. Have the rough versions of songs for him to mix/master outside our sessions. He sends the final mastered files, instantly pay him as I do with sessions

Send an example of his mixes
I don’t know what you would even want a lawyer to do here
Sounds like you just want to intimidate him

yeah that’s a bit different, i’d def have an issue with that especially if mixes aren’t clean. sounds like it’s best to get a new engineer, avoid the hassle altogether. just my input

Don't have ill intentions whatsoever towards anyone

Always wanted a home setup. If I had the time to self teach equipment/software set up wouldn't be possible atm
There's gotta be someone locally that can help set it up, that'd be sick to perform at my humble apartment anyways for the sake of performances too
Walmart be on the same s***

Lmao you're not getting it. He's already paid by the studio for the hours. The services as in the mix/mastering part weren't even started yet. I'm supposed to pay before? I understand some businesses ask for pay upfront so hence the question
