Lmao you're not getting it. He's already paid by the studio for the hours. The services as in the mix/mastering part weren't even started yet. I'm supposed to pay before? I understand some businesses ask for pay upfront so hence the question
Wym ? yes alot of engineers have u to pay upfront for mix and master services. The studio pays for the engineer to track your vocals in a lot of cases
Not a deal, we've been working for over a year now.
We basically do hours in the studio together. Have the rough versions of songs for him to mix/master outside our sessions. He sends the final mastered files, instantly pay him as I do with sessions
Oh ok. I ask because it's not unusual for an engineer (or any other gig-based employee) to ask for at least some of the money up front and the rest upon completion. However, judging from your responses to other commenters, it seems like he's giving you sub-par work when you pay before delivery. In that case, it's best to find a new engineer. When you do, have a deal set up so the delivery/payment process is consistent every time. Have a contract signed if the engineer doesn't have a proven track record

Makes sense, I'm a man of my word and always pay on time. Already took care of it. Had to make sure with clear judgement yerrd
It’s clear all the people saying “yeah just get a home setup and do it yourself” don’t understand engineering like that lol
