Never did either before, but it doesnt seem hard... just pour up drinks in a timely manner, be friendly to people (which I'm excellent at, lot of bartenders are kinda douchey).
Only thing is I would probably have to refer to drink guides unless it was the simple s***, but most people are only getting simple s*** so
I'm thinking it could be more or less lucrative than working some s***ty factory job full time and I'd work like half the hours. Plus it would expose me to meeting a lot of people (and baddies). Prlly even pick up more shifts at another spot.
Could even be a good segway to find clients for IT services. I do work for a guy that owns a bar and he tells me I should really look at doing the bar IT angle.
its segue not segway f***in idiot now i asked for a gin tonic how long is it gonna take

“Doesn’t seem hard”
All you types that say this and come into the industry last a month tops lmao
Male bartenders that work at just everyday bars seem like some of the saddest people
The bar I go to has an Asian guy in his 40s that will be talking s*** under his breathe when I lose $500 (and still tip him) and will call other people idiots and tell me about what they lost
I still get to drink casamigos for free every time though

How so? Is it because its too fast paced or because the customers suck?
Ive been dealing with customers for like 8 years bro, I done seen it all lol.
Bartending at a restaurant is much better than a bar. I managed a restaurant during the time COVID for a few months. It's a pain in the ass but the bartenders were always much happier than everyone else.

This restaurant I applied to had me take a 'Bartending quiz'...
I didn't know there was so much vocabulary to study
S*** would be easy to learn tho, show me a study guide and it is done.
nanjoori on his way
F*** I just remembered someone (him?) Made a thread with this exact thread title, maybe even right down to the punctuation
I wonder if it ever worked out for him

Bartending isn’t easy, but sure give it a try and report back.

reading and memorising specs doesn’t mean you’ll make a good cocktail
quoted wrong post but whatever
Was a server for 2 years, worked in restaurants for 2 more (barback, line cook)
You’re right about the money and (depending on your city) your ability to meet people on the job. But it’s definitely not an easy job and you’ll have to be prepared to give up your weekend nights to make really good money.
I think everyone should work as a server at least once. It’s good for your people skills and makes you a better customer imo
Just have to survive the utter sadness that is being a barback and you’ll be aite
When i finish my thesis and i want to bartend so bad again

I'm down to do anything man. Ive worked many diff types of jobs and I can pretty much do anything that isnt hard labor.
I sort of understand the stress of serving customers and having to keep a bar clean, but I don't think it could ever be worse than
some labor job where I'm literally destroying my back everyday doing the same s*** over and over.
I'm good at learning tbh, also, dont they have the things on the bottles that basically measure out your pours for you
