Just watched today, thought it was an interestingly decent film. Lots of ideas but they don’t feel as fleshed out in favor of amateur style filmmaking decisions. Felt like it distracted from the great performances from Pamela, Jamie, & Dave. I thought the use of 16mm Kodak film made this look beautiful, very ethereal and nostalgic for an early-to-late 2000s look. I’m not surprised at all for the praise Pamela has been getting for this, similar to Demi Moore in the Substance, it’s incredible to see these s***symbols of yesteryears finally get the chance to showcase their immense talent. I do hope to see her continue to land good, and honestly better, material that can put that talent to use.
Seeing it Friday
Pamela getting a SAG nom for this was surprising but got me pretty hyped even though I've seen multiple reviews kinda echo what you said about it leaving a bit to be desired plot wise

Yeah even though the plot/story was undercooked the performances really elevate it to a good watch. Pretty undeniable how important of a role like this is for Pamela
Even Jamie getting a nom isn’t that surprising to me, she had a memorable role and one of the standout scenes in the movie.

Love to hear it, can't wait to watch

Bro this was so frustrating lol
It has all the pieces. A fantastic cast, great ideas, and an interesting premise... but nothing came together at all. Some great individual scenes but it felt so disjointed and unfocused
It could've been so damn good I still enjoyed it, but I did leave a little disappointed
Pamela was straight up heartbreaking

What pissed me off the most was the random shots of b roll every 10 minutes, then finding out they only shot for 18 days it made abit more sense but more then anything it made me question how much material was really in the script. I think it’d make for a really tight short film but it’s padded out as it is. Great performance, good ideas, average film.

That was pretty jarring huh. Just right in the middle of every narrative they were trying to build. Really odd choice
Truly happy for Pamela Anderson though. She gave everything to that role and absolutely crushed it
Really hope she picks up some late awards momentum
This was a no for me and I really wanted to like it.
I thought Pamela performance was pretty bad tbh. The dialogue was bad. The melodramatic ass mother/daughter storyline wasn’t fleshed out properly.
The exposition dumps
They had all that b-roll footage because the writer wasn’t good enough to flesh out a compelling story. Which sucks because this has all the ingredients to making a great character study but the execution was poor.
The camera work and 16mm was great though. And Bautista and Jamie Lee were good of course.

yea idk if i have any strong interest in this movie tbh
I really was enjoying this and then it ended so abruptly. Don't say this much about films these days, but this could've been used a bit more time. Looks beautiful though, and the performances from Jamie Lee Curtis and Pamela Anderson were awesome IMO. I do agree with the mother-daughter conflict being a weak point though. Good movie.
i fwed this
pam anderson might have been my least fav thing about this movie tho.. every other character in the film felt like a real person but pam’s character felt like a performance/overacting (and i get that that’s just how her character is supposed to be but wasn’t really working for me)
also had no idea brenda song was in this

You the only other person I’ve seen say this besides me. Everyone seems to love her performance but I thought it was bad and overdone
“I loveeeeee being a show girl it’s so amazing”
“daughter, oh no! I can’t believe I made you sad!!”

Pretty damning when you consider how shallow and lackluster the script is

there's like maybe 50 min of actual story

Especially disappointing because it's good material! Just wildly misused and underexplored
