Wider yes, M50 has the worst soundstage I ever heard
It depends on what you consider exciting. M50s have super boosted upper mids and highs but they just come off harsh to me. Maybe that would be exciting to some?
Honestly I consider those akg’s more of a mixing headphone
The biggest problem I have with m40x is the boring, two-dimensional sound like I highkey enjoyed listening to my music through the whip. The increased wideness, sub-bass, and comfort of the AKG's sounded promising to me however
Been owning the ath M40X now and still lasting me since beginning of last year, but I’m not that satisfied with these headphones anymore. Narrow and boring sound, bad isolation, and kinda uncomfortable after a while.
What should I get next? I typically want it to be $150 or less, have a “fun” sound, at least somewhat comfortable, and somewhat isolating too. Also don’t want them to be earbuds, I’m done sticking little d*** like things in my ears. Also planning on returning the chi-fi’s I got

I've researched about them and was considering getting them 32 ohm version since the 80 ohm needs an amp. Steered away from them after hearing the 32 ohm not being good and I don't wanna shell out extra money for an amp either.
In this situation were in I'll just have to hold off purchasing the headphones, I'm either gonna go with AKG 371 or Sony 700n after the virus s*** is over hopefully. Cancelled the AKG 371 order from Amazon after I heard they charge restocking fee, and there's some QC issues going around

This ain't the situation to purchase headphones but yea I'll probably try to save up for an amp and maybe purchase good pair like this Summer or Fall when this Rona s*** is behind us hopefully then
Edit: just looked at the amps and s***s are like $100+ it's too expensive for me sorry fam. I'll just get those AKG's or Sony's lol
@Slingshot Imma just order the smaller brother of those AKG headphones, the 361 model. I feel (from what I’ve read) the sound may not be as good but it’s close and feels more comfy than 371’s. Plus s***s cheaper by $50 too
Man I’m excited to get away from my M40X

I'm good on amps for now, maybe I'll get them down the road in the future, too much money for me for now. I appreciate your suggestion though
Audio Technica ath-a900x been good to me the past 5 years or so
I'm sure they sound fantastic but I'd like them to look cosmetically good too. I just went with Akg k361 at last

Received my K361’s today, and off the bat I noticed there’s less bass than my M40X. However, the sound feels more detailed and wider tbh, along with significantly better comfort. Imo I’m satisfied and the trade off is definitely worth it imo
On the side note Toosie Slide sounds terrible on them, feels so narrow and lifeless
But Lupe’s music sounds better
Bought these a few weeks back, they’re pretty good (Bosche Quietcomfort 35 II) and affordable
