Dec 29, 2024BlueChew SeanAlso, I hate the term "quotables" but I feel like Morale and GNX lack punchlines/wordplay. I'm a huge fan of that in rap, a bar that has you like
when you catch it. I do need to listen to this album more, but I didn't catch any on my few listensI'm talking lines like:

Thought it was cool to look the judge in the face when he sentenced me

My intuition had said I was suited for family tiesClever wordplay because suit-ties. And you tend to wear a suit in court. J Cole's line about I flip like exclamation points. Feels like on those 2 albums, Kendrick just rapping to get his point or story across without the little flourishes of great poetry and lyricism
Push the absolute goat of lines that get you like
Kendrick’s “quotables” on this album are great tho. A little more simplistic but hit hard. “I’m doing what Covid did, They’ll never get over it” isn’t some crazy wordplay but just hits
My problem with Cole is that a lot of his bars are kinda goofy/amateur and Cole fans gas them up. I remember when 7MD dropped and Cole Stan’s were gassing up “Fly pebbles to your dome we the stone temple pilots” like some crazy ass bar but it really don’t even make sense lol
