Yeah the R-rated comedy genre has been dying pretty much since Seth Rogen decided to start making cases full time

I think the last full Blown comedy (excluding kid movies and action comedies) to be successful at the box office was Good Boys.

I also think Bros lacked a real hook to the movie. Hit comedies usually have a pretty solid premise to draw you in, or at least some star power. I don’t think Billy Eichner is really a star yet, and the premise of the movie has been marketed as “gay rom com” which just isn’t really a premise lol it’s a genre.

If you had an interesting hook and the characters in it were all gay, I think the movie would be more successful. But just marketing the movie as being gay is not going to drum up much interest - it’s not like we have a huge lack of gay material out there.
