Tom & Jerry probably does hold up even better than Looney Tunes, since it has less of the dated pop culture references.
Oh yeah this reminded me of The Looney Tunes Show which was sick
And also Garfield(the 3D version) just cause it's a classic
disney had multiple movies and series worth of quality storylines already written out for them and they still fumbled the bag big time
That's what happens when passionate people are behind the product and not some suits like for the sequels
Adventure Time was ridiculously complex and mature for a kid's cartoon but that's what makes it so amazing, a lot of episodes bordered on limits I thought media couldn't reach, let alone something on Cartoon Network
Finn losing his arm for the first time, building the tower to the space prison, BMO's world, Prismo's maze, all of these are phenomenal scenes in their own right and there's so many more of them it's ridiculous to think about
Even with CN rushing the show and not giving it a proper ending(which imo should've been Princess Bubblegum being the main villain but that's a story for another day) they managed to do so much with it AND make it seem like that was the case from the beginning
i never caught it as a kid but from my junior year to senior year of college i watched at least 2 episodes of adventure time almost every day. its like they designed that show to be a trojan horse to expose children to more thoughtful, mature topics
truly goated show i'm right with you
it wasn't like explicit or wild, but it also wasn't overtly wholesome. there was some interesting character design, combined with a strange tone that wasn't as "positive" as other cartoons from this era. even when elmer fudd was hunting bugs bunny, it seems a little comical. in this first segment when this dude is trying to taxidermy woody, it feels just ever so slightly more "serious".
maybe fever dream was too strong a phrase, but it always felt like there was something "off" about woody woodpecker and his entire world LOL
mind you tho, i mean that as high praise considering i went on to love some pretty experimental & f***ed up animation later
Damn, you went deep in this bih
I see you

i swear i'm not over-intellectualizing this s*** LMAO
these are all just things i felt as a kid but am now able to put into coherent words. it's so weird going back to some of these shows and realizing what was really going on in my head back then.

I feel you on this
Like in random moments, something from the cartoons comes back into my mind and I just put my head up and be like "OHHHHHHHH" or just watching videos of the cartoon and when it explains something I drop even bigger "OHHHHHHHHHH"

these animators know what they're doing when they sneak in that super mature s*** that slaps you in the face a decade later

experiencing adventure time during it’s prime was crazy, i feel like it really is an allegory for how much we all want something, but the journey and memories made before having it is what actually means the most. And it holds deeper into my heart because it was the last show my family came together to watch all at the same time every new episode… i feel like that’s a lost activity with many families nowadays
A lot of them man
Sucks that cartoons took a nosedive but I guess they aren't for us anymore
its def the quality because all the old s*** still slaps
yo tell me there's at least one person itt who thought swat kats was one of the coolest f***ing things to have ever existed

Ed, Edd n Eddy
Adventure Time
A bit simple, but I really like Recess
This is anime, but Attack on Titan could be here depending on how it ends
Need to rewatch, but I think Camp Lazlo could be here
Regular Show close to GOAT, but I feel like they went The Big Bang Theory route with everybody getting into relationships Adventure Time was way more consistent, Regular Show falls off after the first few seasons imo
