I have a week long vacation to Cancun in exactly two weeks. I just started this new job first week of June. I have just enough PTO accrued to ask off, but I feel guilty and don’t want to get fired. Any good excuses?

You should’ve asked for the time off as soon as you planned your vacation. The longer you wait the more difficult it’ll be to plan around your absence. Just tell them what’s going on

most of the time you'd only need to worry if you didn't have PTO. if you've got them accrued, those hours are yours. this kinda varies on a state level though, e.g. i heard if you're in oregon for instance employers have total control over your PTO

unless your job has a big project that you're essential for, i don't see much of a need to come up with a reason. just give em notice and see what they say.
