Been on a mafia movie kick since graduating college into indefinite unemployment. They’re hitting different now. I guess cause living outside and even above the system is such a romantic idea to anyone who is tired of trying to live in it.

Anyways, which one do y’all got? I think both movies do a great job of never wasting a scene, tying everything together, being very intentional about every decision, making violence interesting but still not as interesting as the characters, holding the viewers attention despite long runtimes etc. But in general I guess goodfellas just feels more fun, while The Godfather feels overall more masterful.

Also lemme know if you got anything else holding their own against these 2.

goodfellas is strangely very rewatchable and never gets boring for me, cant say the same for godfather but godfather is stronger in other aspects

I’d put “Once Upon a Time in America” up there as well, love the scale of that film

Why part 2 over part 1? It’s really good but for me just less tight and more depressing.

Goodfellas for me

Godfather is the Apex but Goodfellas in one movie shows the downside of organized crime and the message is that crime never pays, Goodfellas, even though I prefer Godfather more.

OP if you haven't watched A Bronx Tale yet peep that. Not saying it's on par w/ theses two movies but it's one of the most underrated movies ever & a classic mob film.

Also this is a really hard decision but Ima go w/ Godfather although I prefer Goodfellas

Goodfellas is just classic scorsese at his best. It’s like a number 1 from chick fil a I can eat it and watch chick fil a and goodfellas once a week and never get tired of it. And tbh probably one week out of every month I watch a little bit of goodfellas to fall asleep to.
