Warren Peacenah. if bro almost fell asleep just watching 1, there’s no way he should watch both in one sitting, i did that my first time and i loved it, but i think it hampered my enjoyment of 2 a little bit
i came out thinking 1 was superior but i was really just kind of burned out by the end of 2
I think I watched both films on their own before watching them consecutively, either way it improves your perspective on both films to do so

Exactly that, Goodfellas is almost a hangout movie. In the best ways possible of course. While The Godfather 1 & 2 are masterful and monolithic. Polar opposites

tbh they're very different even in subject
Goodfellas follows lower to middle level mafia members, who aren't even made men, while The Godfather is basically about the mafia royal family...

for me I think The Godfather 2 is probably the best Mafia movie ever made, and one of the best movies ever. I've always felt like the first one was more applauded because it was the birth of the genre, but the second was the better as a movie.
Compared to Goodfellas I think the Godfather is a tier above it, and I don't think any Mafia movie comes close to what the Godfather does. I think the best Mafia movie out of Scorsese was the Irishman, and I would put that one on the same tier as The Godfather
