Hiring a lawyer probably wasn't necessary if you have appropriate coverage. Thats what insurance is for.
i didn’t think so either since the other party is at fault but my pops called one anyway

I guess its not going to hurt perse but take this chance to review your insurance and know what you are paying for and what coverage you have. Most people don't know until its too late to find out they're underinsured.

ok thanks for the heads up. this is good to know
Yea theyll pay the street value of the car not the loan amount, if you have gap insurace itll cover the difference.
Tell your mom to talk to the lawyer about phsyical therapy she can get 10 -15 racks.
happy your mom is ok bro.
a few hours ago i let my mom borrow my car. someone rear ended her in traffic and both cars are totaled. she’s okay thankfully, she only has neck pains. a third party got their vehicle scratched by the person who rear ended her
the police report states that the lady who rear ended her was at fault. both of us have geico. we spoke with a lawyer over the phone that advised us not to speak with our insurance just yet, in case they try to flip some s*** i guess ?
i should be getting a full reimbursement for my vehicle right ??
edit: doc said she has a strained neck and back
The insurance company will write you a check for the kbb value of your car. Your mom should follow up with any kind of physical therapy to strengthen her case, but she should also get cashed out for that
oh last thing op
sometimes insurance will try to finesse you on the worth of your car
look online for what people in the market are selling it for, you don't have to accept the number they give you first
show them the receipts and they'll adjust
Since the other driver was at fault, your insurance doesn't really matter unless you have full coverage and you want to make a claim. In theory your mom could have been driving with no insurance and still gotten cashed out.
Source: I'm dusty and been in like four accidents (only one my fault)
@KaTeezy
yeah its free money
if your mom claims to have some sort of pain she'll be getting money whether she has them or not lol
but that is up to the person at hand
that’s good to know. her and the other lady are at the hospital rn getting checked out. do you guys know how long the insurance process typically takes ?
It depends how fast ur insurance provider takes. No exact time but they might can give u an estimate. I’d fight with your insurance to pay for a rental until ur claim is done or have them make the other persons insurance pay for it
as someone who's been rear ended before, there's absolutely no reason to downplay injuries @op
if anything, play them up more. If you can really nail the physical exercise + recovery aspects of chiro...for FREE...do so. The earlier you get em the better
in any case, my lower back is still partially f***ed due to that trauma, so it probably wont be something she fully feels for days, if not weeks
I wish I could put a scope to the f***er who rear ended me man
dude fell asleep at the wheel multiple times before. hit me when I was stationary at a red light. people like that shouldnt be allowed to drive for years

made a car accidents thread a few months ago and i remember this exact situation happening to someone. i think it was you. i'd be heated if i had to live with something like that for the rest of my life over someone elses mistakes man i'm so sorry
