I graduated with a Business degree last May and I started working in a Sales job since then.

The job is cushy, but it's also just not for me.
I can't sit at a desk all day.

I started doing an electrician apprenticeship a few years back and left it to go get a degree..
Now I've been given the opportunity to take up an apprenticeship again.
And I'm going to take it.

    I'm nervous.
I'm going to be on half the money I was on, and it'll be 4+ years before I'm fully qualified.
    I'll be nearly 30.
But I want to work with my hands and I don't want to be stuck behind a desk.
    I'm nervous all the same.

don’t be nervous. you’ll be better off, know a lot of ppl that went this route me included. gonna suck the first few years but once you hit that bump + benefits it’ll all pay off

never too late to start bro

4 year apprenticeship is crazy, good luck tho

I feel you op working at a desk is only cool if you have the ability to work from home. Working at an office is soul crushing. Good thing for me is that I have the ability to leave the office if someone down at the plant needs help. I need that break...

My dad was working from home 10 years ago. Now, I see why its so amazing post covid. I don't think anyone in this day in age would want to commute back and forth for work.

Was sales truly that cushy? Sounds like a dream to me.

Was it hard to sell things?
I feel like if you were nervous all the time it'd be difficult to communicate.
I know there's big money in sales but if you aren't selling you're dead without a paycheck.

We only get once chance at this life thing for all we know so do what makes you happy above all else and take that risk if you can land comfortably if it doesn’t work out.

I believe it will work out for you though. You’re capable and you’ll be able to land a career that’s fulfilling for you. Much love respect to you OP

Good s*** @op welcome to the trades I’m a building engineer love what I do wouldnt trade it for the world. Apprenticeships start off tough you don’t know much and aren’t making a lot of $$ either but it’s all worth it in the end 👍🏼💯

See my targets hadn't kicked in yet, I was basically being given until the new year to get up and running.

I was selling logistics/shipping plans to businesses with a well known courier service, so people knew the business and the product.
Main issue was price - we're expensive.
So if it was an issue on price, it wasn't an account we could win over - so there was no real expectation to 'win them over', because we couldn't lower our prices.
