you made sure to incorporate the hidden brand into your designs tho right?
cause the point of the collab is to design something in collaboration w his brand hidden. Not just any design fyi.
Good luck fam!
Your designs are super clean frfr. I'm tryna get into graphic design myself. What are some tips you'd give to someone tryna start out
two words: blending modes
I don’t like to be the one that says this. But go to school for graphic design. You’ll learn more, get feedback and get real world experiences and not just cover art for some independent artist. Take it seriously. It bugs me when people don’t. Graphic design is an important job In today’s society and people think it’s just throwing stuff on insta. What you make directly impacts peoples lives and the way we communicate.
Be pretentious. Study. Research.
I started my program wanting to do layout design / video / photography. Now I’m doing all of that plus UX development and Spacial Computing design. It’s worth it if you actually care. Good luck. I mean that.
You don't need to go to school for graphic design lmfao. A class or two at the most is fine. You need to hammer down fundamentals and after that it's literally just experience and experiment. I've been doing s*** since around 2012 i took one hs class and a college course that I didn't even need to take but it was fun. Literally just learned it myself.

Yikes
Edit:
It’s not a degree in “Graphic Design”. It’s a degree in Visual Communication & Design. It encompasses more than just graphic work. Like UI, UX, Motion Design, Animation, Web, Spacial Computing, product design ... ect. Obviously anyone can pick up Illustrator and Indesign and learn a grid layout.
Yikes

what does going to school help you in outside spending money on s*** you can literally teach yourself?

Considering the field of Design is becoming more and more complex through sensory experiences larger design companies and studios aren’t hiring people without a degree in CS, Design, Engineering or equivalent.
You’re not wrong in the fact that you can learn most design principles online and apply it on your own time. But the fact is a lot of companies and studios will not look at people with out a degree.

they look at portfolio not a college degree lmao its one of the few fields you can get around if you build yourself a good portfolio. You clearly don't need a degree to be in this field

Look Man, I am not being rude but your condescending attitude is kind of ridiculous. I am telling you from my personal experience and knowledge as someone who has worked in studios and worked with more than a handful of high level designers that they just don’t take people without a degree as serious as people who do. The degree is far more than “graphic design”.

Condescending? Im being honest with the guy and im sure you did work in high level studios lmfao. You made it seem like he had to get a degree to be taken serious and when I said other wise you said yikes lmfao gtfo tryna flip this and make me look condescending when you clearly started it

i'm kinda on @WOOPDEYSCOOP 's side here. design is not how it looks — it's about how it works. however, it is not absolutely necessary to attend a school. I do graphic design as a profession and my job is more about creating things such as orientation systems or help brands position themselves. imo every visual element should serve a clear function. but you are 100% right, a good portfolio is way more important than a degree.

Also dependent on the job.
Smaller studios may breeze past it but when it comes to larger studios like Nike it could be harder. If you’re freelancing and don’t have a degree it could take you 5+ years to build up enough creditable experience and work to get that job. Whereas the person with the bachelors did everything that person did in 5 and did it in 2.
Before you graduate a lot of programs will help you build that portfolio because all the work you end up doing is for your portfolio. They also have a good vetting system on being brutally honest with all your work. Usually most capstones are working with professional clients. And you have to have at least 1 internship before you graduate.
Not saying you have to go to school. But it may just be easier in the long run. The barrier to entry in the field is getting harder and in the next 5-10 years I don’t see a lot of companies taking the chance on freelancers without a BA. unless you’re that 1% you’ll still be edged out by the kid who was working for that company during their internship class.

where did you study?
late to the thread, but if you try to get a graphic design job w/o an education you’ll get laughed out of the room real quick. Professional designers almost have a 3rd eye that can immediately tell if someone doesnt know what they’re doing just by looking at their portfolio.
That being said, get said education at a decent school. A lot of schools have really s*** programs, that are essentially just art with some typography. Those are scams. The best way to tell if the program works is to see if they have a good co-op/internship program where students are actually getting jobs with legit design firms.
And always welcome criticism, that s*** can only be positive. Either you find a weakness in your design or you learn how to defend and justify your decisions.
