I know it's intentional...
then its not an example of bad sound quality its an intentionally low fi mix
an example of a bad mix being overlooked by good music would be mbdtf

but the mixing is jarring even for people who like lo-fi music, but the album is still great!
ok no i didnt read it but title & op dont correlate b whilst i guess i agree the wording is messy
SRS by Earl is a masterpiece, despite sounding almost like unfinished demos - same with "The Glow pt.2" by The Microphones and many other GREAT lo-fi albums. Great music will always be great. Alex G recorded most of his album using garage band and a s***ty USB mic - and his music still sounds GODLY. Use what you have and make it work.
no
one of my favorite albums, sounds like s***
No it doesn't
You're not gonna enjoy a song that genuinely sounds like it was recorded with cheap equipment idc how good the song itself is
lmfao stfu
Jai Paul gets away with it because his songs are LITERALLY demos so people expect worse but get good music
I'm not talking about songs that have a "low budget" sound for effect
But s*** that was recorded with a $20 mic for example, your brain won't even allow you to enjoy it
Just not possible
Post made me lose brain cells. Good job discrediting entire genres of music
i guess my point was kinda semantic then my b. agree with op's sentiment - its weird people can understand this concept in other mediums but not music

pop music did that
mastering is LITERALLY just to make it sound louder and consistent across platforms, lol. You probably don't even make music...
I’ll even go one step further
Great music doesn’t age, the perception of it does
That’s why you can listen to something from decades ago and not think it came out in that year (like Bowie)
Like Micheal Jackson
Like Stevie

No it’s not ONLY about that, other things mastering engineers do s*** like fix the f***ups of mixing, tighten the bass, widen up the song, etc.
mastering requires just ONE file - mixing has multiple tracks to it... The glue...

!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC9km8qnbOYWhat a intro to a album
but it's not the glue
What they mean by “glue” is to make the volume and sound style consistent throughout the album
