I feel like we have inklings of it already but episode 7 is said to be Hal's backstory .
He said this in the 86 flashback
Though you can't see my face, know that my commitment to fighting evil will never waver. The night I received this ring, I was asked only one question, if I was afraid. I remain as steadfast now as I was then. I am fearless.'
Hal's was already a beloved hero for 30 years prior to 2016 and someone to admire and respect as earth's protector. But 2016 hal let himself get manipulated by Sinestro to devise a plan that gets him back in good grace with the guardians that pretty much got a lot of innocent people killed. And he did this because of his ego and fear of being replaced, which is a betrayal to the commitment he made as a hero. In this episode you can see him reconcile with this between saving people or going off to capture Zoe. Saving John or keeping the ring.
tbh i still think it's a parallax thing.
whether it'll be literal or symbolic, we shall see
If we're not watching Mossad slop, it's cia slop, we are d00med
Widows Bay out now
Widows Bay out now
Got that loaded up in my jellyfin
Is that Furious show worth watching too

Widow's Bay is the best show on TV if that's what you're asking

I meant Furious sorry

Ehh i feel like make all hal bitterness being from possession would probably cheapen it. I could see it if after he loses the ring he goes down the parallax route
I meant Furious sorry
I watched like 2-3 episodes mostly in the background. Seemed fine? Kind of a fem Fincher procedural about victimized women but with some relatable millennial female zaniness. Much prefer Rachel McAdams in S02 of True Detective
Hol up manhunters can have kids
Hal not using the ring even when John was beating his ass
And him refusing to go down
He went out with class
That felt like the finale then I remembered that we have 3 more
Incredible show
is this the best DCU project so far?
is this the best DCU project so far?
5 episodes in and it might already be
Obviously Peacemaker started great and then (in my opinion) had a flat finale, but I have faith in this show to see it through
When youve experienced the pleasures of the galaxies as much as we have, it's less about preference and more about opportunity
i love this show
I feel like criticizing the budget only makes sense when the sfx in the show looks bad not for what you didn't get in it. Even then in this episode, they did a pretty good job with showing constructs even though most were defensive
We dont know if the finale requires even more of the budget than this episode
How is it a weird fit lol
Look at the way Guy Gardner uses the ring in Superman lol. Superman had a more fantastical vibe in its approach. Lanterns goes for this typical trend of making superhero content more grounded in live action. And yeah, the VFX looked fine because they never tried to do anything ambitious
you don't have to have a friendship to cry over somebody
and it's clear they both have a level of respect for each other that is rare. there's also a lot of emotional baggage for John when it comes to Hal, whether it be his traumatizing childhood, or even the entire 2016 time period they shared together. they've been through a lot lol. it tracks
They spent a week together at most and ended up hating each other in the end lol. S*** bro had more of a bond with the manhunter and he killed her in cold blood. John could look sad but him shedding a tear is strange

They say they’re in like month 2 or 3 of training in the first episode.
He grew up idolizing this superhero. His entire life’s mission was to BE him.
This show is way better than I ever expected it would be
S*** felt like a season finale

I mean isn't that the whole point of the dcu to have tonal shifts across projects. We're getting clayface next month which much different than the grounded take in lanterns and fantastical take in superman

You can’t bring logic to a conversation when someone just wants to hate.. to hate s***.
