Making new thread so paradise valley doesn't have to juggle it.

Silver Chair, Horse and His Boy, and Magician's Nephew are all incredible books with huge potential for a film adaptation.

Hoping they go that route rather than going the safe route of remaking the already basically perfect original film.

  • Good for Greta, but I hate Netflix. Never seen the previous movies. I'm curious

I don’t have a large interest in the Narnia franchise but I know Greta will make the sets look great and she’s 3/3 in my book (Barbie ranked at 3).

I saw these news just now abd thought wow Narnia! Now I see it's Netflix which makes cringe a bit. Best of luck to her.

I'd love to see her do Narnia movies.... Netflix just botches stuff before it even releases and is super unreliable in terms of marketing.

She wants to do blockbuster films, something we just gotta accept.

Little Women was an adaptation too.

No harm in Narnia being adapted, people getting mad at that choice is strange to me. But Netflix is idiotic like the poster above me said. Working with them at this point is nuts.

If Rian Johnson couldn't get a wide theatrical release for Glass Onion, I doubt even Gerwig could with Narnia.

Tanking movie theaters and not helping them at any cost is one of Netflix's top goals.

Agreed. If it was for one of the big studios I’d get it.

And if this post-Barbie Netflix project was a smaller Marriage Story, Ladybird or Frances Ha, I’d get that too. Follow up Barbie with a smaller thing and get it financed by Netflix, get a small release that makes it eligible for awards.

But to go from Barbie to multiple Netflix Narnia movies seems like such a career step back.

It isn’t the blockbuster stuff I love her doing it and Narnia is a good fit for her. It being a Netflix thing is what kills it for me

We may not even get a second movie if Netflix botches the release of this one lol

Yea their stubbornness when it comes to theatrical releases is their biggest deterrent and a possible contribution to their eventual downfall. Especially with a film like Narnia, you’re just leaving money on the table. What is there to gain from releasing a big budget film directed by the Greta Gerwig who brought in a billion for Barbie and $220 mil off a $40 million budget for Little Women, straight to streaming . She’s proven herself to be a box office succeed multiple times now even if with more indie productions so idk Netflix is gonna become the dinosaur that doesn’t realize people still like going to the movies.
