So technically I think they owe Shady a Conway album and a Hall x Nash album, right?

How can anyone possibly think FlyGod 2 was better than this?

S*** is mind-boggling. I couldn't even listen to that project without editing out all those gotdamn skits and some of the features.

Man Hitler 7 really is a perfect project. The beats are produced by a diverse group, and the sound is just better. Rapping is great. Compare that project to WMTS, and you can just tell how hollow the beats are. Even similar beats like Gondek, and Size 42 have more character bc they aren't just programmed.

Hitler 7 and P4P were where he peaked imo. I know a lot would disagree but I don’t think 2020 has been particularly great for them. Gunn and Conway have one each, pretty much every other project has missed the mark even though they may still be for the most part enjoyable

H7 is in my top 3 WSG projects. S*** is great front to back. GONDEK one of the hardest beats a Griselda member has rapped on

Agreed. Not to sound like that guy, but the impact of mainstream appeal has become apparent in the quality of their output

I dont think he's peaked tho.

This new album is precisely what he wanted it to be.

He couldve pushed the line as far as creativity but I don't think it's because hes peaked. I think this is a very calculated release from WSG. He knew this wouldnt top P4P. I dont think it was meant to.

Didn’t he say it would top it? I think I remember him saying that. I hope I’m wrong, it’s just his last two releases have sounded a little stale. I like his music so I still f*** with them but it almost feels like he’s running out of ideas

dumb ass mf should be capitalizing on their momentum

  • Coming from a big fan of Daringer and Beat Butcha, WS really needed to utilize his connections to other producers better than he did on WMTS instead of letting them handle the majority of beats. I wish he chose just like 2 or 3 of their best and stuck with those.

Which isn't even to say that the boom bap piano loops are getting old, but that their best in moderation, or when they're unexpected

How could you say he peaked if he dropped P4P this year? lol I don’t think it’s fair to say that just yet

I literally mentioned P4P was his peak in that post 😂

But what is he supposed to say? That hes only putting it out due to contractual agreements?

Cause the same ear that released P4P released WMTS. I've gotta believe it was a conscious decision to release the album as it was.

If he was trying to top P4P, it doesnt even read like that on paper. He hasnt even called in any big time favors yet. Outside of Slick Rick, this was a pretty standard Gunn release.

I think his next release will be the tipping point. Hes earned enough goodwill with me for me to wait and see .

i don’t feel like these daringer beats are any more “programmed” drum-wise than any of his other work personally

His last two releases were "by the numbers" as it gets. I like the sound but he needs to switch it up just a little. That way each project can stand out in one way or another. Pray For Paris is praised because of how different it was compared to his previous albums. It was fresh and delivered something unique, at least by WSG's standards.

As long as Benny doesn't bring on BSF and RJ Payne on multiple tracks and Hit-boy brings his A+ game, I'm hoping this is a home run. Benny's been through too much this year

I'm in but skeptical. Not a huge fan of Hit-Boy's sound, but the few snippets I heard were cool. Hope Benny does more to stand out like he did on TT3

Definitely not tryna hear RJ Payne f***ing yelling at me on his feature

I like what Hit-boy did with Nas, but I'm not over here trying to hear Benny over his production. Benny thinks the world is over here gushing for him and don't care what kind of beats he raps over, because we're already bought into Benny. When that's not the case, he still has to prove himself worthy of our attention. We don't just want Benny. We want him on production that he will sound best over. (Daringer, Alchemist, Premier, etc.) We've fallen in love with the Griselda sound and aesthetic, not Benny rapping over modern / trendy production and showing us how "diverse" he is.

Exactly what I was thinking. Hit Boy sound is too mainstream for my liking, plus Benny just shines like crazy over grimy s***. As good a rapper as he is, he kinda becomes obscured behind more average beats. He thrives on that dark/grimy s***:

  • Like imagine a full length Benny project with a grimy producer. That's why TT3 was so successful: half Daringer half Al.
