Hearing Conway rap about being a job creator and telling his community to pull themselves up by their bootstraps is so lame. Griselda has always been entrepreneurship p***, but they were actually at the ground level doing it. This sounds so detached and bougie. Really spoils the brand for me. Still some nice bars/flows obviously.

He does a good job for the most part, but the production brings it down for me, there are other styles aside from trap if they wanna experiment. Literally everything is trap and has been for years, one of the reasons griselda was so refreshing was that you could put on a griselda album and know you’re not gonna hear some generic ass high hats

To an extent I agree, The two WSG releases after P4P started to sound stale and recycled I just wish they’d have picked another way to experiment with beats without trying to go mainstream trap, it’s just such an obvious crossover attempt and isn’t unique in any way

yeah, but I think every artist - not just in music - goes through a period where they're bored with doing the same thing and want to do something new. especially after having a measure of success.

usually they end up f***ing up a lot. branching out/expanding your palette, especially when you've cornered a market, is really f***ing difficult.

but I get the critique. For instance, WMTSS is kinda a generic take on the Griselda street rap sound; it's kind of the end of that way of doing things. So after that, there's a choice to make. They could go in the Roc Marci lane and be even more left-field and dig deeper into the cult-following stuff, but that's clearly not what their ambitions are.

that said, I think PIM2 has some of the most exciting production of a GXFR project to date.

I defiantly understand what you’re saying, it’s just trap beats are so played out and overused, every time I hear a rolling high hat on a track I literally do an eye roll, there are a few exceptions when used sparingly like 27 summers by Nas, smile by jay z or the track madlib and gibbs did.
