there’s internal tools to instantly transfer all assets from renderware to UE4. They prob did that then recoded parts of the game, redid the UI, and did all the QOL in UE4

as long as movement and aiming is less clunky and the view range isnt super limited + few other visual upgrades + few other QoL updates = ill cop

If they release these remasters full price, imma blame Nintendo

SA will have at least have the same music as the previous version that was available for new gen consoles

Yeah, exactly. They removed a bunch of songs in 2014 so basically whatever existed after that

According to a Polish publication the release date will be December 7th.

    https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/gta-trilogy-remasters-set-for-december-boxed-release/

That’s according to retail sources who told Polish publication PPE that the three-game collection will indeed receive a boxed release, but only the last-gen versions will arrive before Christmas.

PS4, Xbox One and Switch versions will release Physically on December 7, the site’s sources claim, with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S editions arriving sometime next year.

If all 3 games aren’t on the cartridge for Switch, I swear I’ma throw away every Rockstar game I f***in own I f***in swear bruh don’t tempt me Rockstar

It’s gonna be like how Super Mario 64 was for the Super Mario Allstars collection. It’s gonna look basically the same just cleaned up and QOL improvements

Rockstars said themselves it’s gonna have the same feel with touch ups

I was just playing the PS2 version of San Andreas and that s*** still hard didn’t realize how funny that s*** really was until recently LMAO

even though the gameplay is clunky and the other s*** that didn’t age well, the game still holds up because of its content density alone

you can do more in that game than cyberpunk 2077 and even GTA 5 if we’re being real

PS2 SA is superior for more than just the sun effects

There are PC mods that can replicate the ps2 version although they're not quite there yet at getting it exact

I really hope they used the PS2 version as their main reference when remaking

The following is taken from some guy on reddit. Take with a grain of salt, but it sounds reasonable

"tl;dr they're going to look the same with slight enhancements to faces, better animations, and overall better lighting.

Believe me or not, it really doesn't matter. The games are going to largely look the same as they did back in the 2000s. Textures have been upscaled, faces have been updated so they look less like triangles, the game uses more dynamic lighting rather than baked-in lighting. Gameplay-wise, animations are almost identical to the normal versions, but cutscenes have largely been reanimated to look less stiff, and the models now have fingers rather than oven mitts for hands. Facial animations are almost "too good" as in the weirdly decent facial animations don't fit the low poly models. Car damage is now more dynamic, and the "damage models" have been done away with. They are more reflective like the mobile ports but more high resolution.

The city is going to look exactly the same. Epic has an internal tool for transferring texture and geometry data from RenderWare to Unreal, so the city shouldn't look any different other than the texture and lighting changes. Ped AI was actually designed to work largely similar to how they were in the original games, not better or worse. There's going to be almost nothing new content-wise, except for the skins from the later editions of the original games, and GTA III has a new "xmas" cheat code that covers liberty city in snow.

The reason the game was ported to unreal was simply due to RenderWare no longer holding up to modern standards and not really playing as well with modern hardware. RAGE was considered but Unreal was chosen due to the existence of tools to easily port content from RW. Dundee is a very small team but they had a lot of passion for this project. These will be the definitive versions for most people and lack many of the issues the old mobile GTA ports had.

The games have pretty much gone gold at this point and Dundee has started work on the mobile ports to release sometime in Q2 2022 (not sure if this has been officially announced yet)

EDIT: I've posted a fair bit more in the comments relating to controls and gameplay changes. I want to keep this post concise and readable."

Not sure how I feel about this. I’ll have to see how the games look

Thought these were about to look as good as the mafia definitive editions but I guess not. Pretty disappointed tbh I mean this is the best gta trilogy & we aren’t even getting a modern take on them

    Wack

Holding out until we see some gameplay

Lol on no DO NOT get your Hope's up as far as this looking like the Mafia remake. I would bet my house that is not what this is going to be. These games, even by today's standards are pretty huge I know they wouldn't put that effort into remaking them to that degree. The funny thing is, they actually could have remade them all by now considering how many years ago these games came out. But yeah, it's best to temper your expectations.

Yea I'd imagine the trilogy will feel very dated when it drops if those rumors are true.
And I'm sure a lot of people will still buy based of nostalgia and wanting to replay these classics

But I can't imagine the younger gen will be too hype to play these considering visuals haven't had much improvement and the controls stayed the same.
I'm sure they won't see a point in getting these games which have clunky controls and dated visuals when they can just play GTA 5 instead

Just seems like a missed opportunity to get a whole new gen of gamers interested in the older GTA games

I still might cop though, just depends on price and how the game looks and feels tbh
