There's really only 2 negative side effects:
-Oxygen depravation. This only happens to people who breathe it in and hold their breath and don't breathe oxygen. Super duper avoidable
-Vitamin B12 depletion. This only really happens when people do a s*** load of these everyday over a very long period of time. And even if this does happen, B12 supplements can reverse it
