I think Halloween III is an underrated masterpiece of filmmaking. Not only does it capture the spirit of the season more than I think the Micheal Myers films but I think it more so ties back into the themes and ideas of the holiday, here is a video that will get you up to speed on it and we can also use this thread to talk about the film itself

All time classic, stupid good atmosphere, great location, Carpenter firing on all cylinders with the score, love it every time I watch it

When the hills ran red with blood...

D*** Warlock ripping that dude's head off

    Stacey Nelkin

The use of Halloween (and its score) on the TV near the end

i think it would have been cool to have the michael myers movies as the main movies in the franchise, but also have the spin offs like season of the witch. i would say do a sequel or follow up to season of the witch, but the ending doesn't leave much room for a follow up

Yea they were supposed to do one off stories each year or two so like halloween 4 was supposed to be it's own movie if season took off.

Also at the end of H4 you can clearly tell they wanted to make Jamie the new shape as she ends up killing her mom but has no real consequences for her actions, but she clearly has a costume; and that moment is never mentioned again

would've been happy to have sotw be the final in the series even though i love the movies that came after(some of them at least)

idk how i feel about jamie being the next shape. the timeline i follow is H1 and H2, with michael and loomis dead at the end of H2 like originally planned. after that, i would be fine with 1 or 2 part anthology films.

they could have did a season of the witch 1 and 2 if they changed the ending up a bit. carpenter always had a lot of great ideas, he could have delivered a few more classic horror/thrillers under the halloween name

yeah Carpenter's plan when they did H3 was the turn the series into an anthology of films relating to the Halloween season/lore

The early plans for Halloween IV (before selling their stakes in the franchise and the Akkads doing Return of Michael Myers) was a movie about a town that had banned celebrating Halloween due to some ancient tragedy, and then when some people around town try and celebrate the holiday in the present day some s*** goes down.

Pretty sure there was also some kind of ghost element to it, but that might have been a separate idea.

Halloween 5 is the slasher equivalent of the Buu Saga cause of how they mishandled the brilliant ending of 4

4 could have been so great - the name of the movie "the return of michael myers" just sounds so badass to me. they should have channeled and took as much as they could from the previous 2 movies. the fans just wanted michael back and a return to the style of the previous movies.

they could have just had michael return and set his sights on a new target. the whole niece storyline and hunting down his family doesn't fit his character at all. figure out how he survives the end of halloween 2 and then H4 he makes the escape from wherever hes been held for 10 years and unleashes hell on some town. doesn't even have to be haddonfield.

im cool with the idea of the anthology films, it would have been awesome tho if carpenter created a universe where you have the main movies be about michael myers and his story, and then you have the spin off anthology films that take place in the same universe.

michael makes a cameo in halloween 3 for like 10 seconds on the tv screen - they could have connected the movies to each other with little stuff like that. instead we got nothing but bleeding the michael myers character dry with terrible storylines

The worst part is that they constantly reference H3 and silver shamrock it's a shame Blumehouse even said they have no interest in remaking or revisiting Season
