They should ve gave it a wild name that separated it from the Myers films like Halloween: Mask of Death or some s***, calling it III makes it sound like a sequel sequel lol
nah what's that
Apparently one of the most distracting/realistic slasher movies
Random but anyone here watch golden glove?
Yes. It’s very good. Really uncomfortable and disgusting though. Makes you want to take a shower after watching.

Damn this kinda makes me excited to watch lowkey I’m intrigued lol
yeah Carpenter's plan when they did H3 was the turn the series into an anthology of films relating to the Halloween season/lore
The early plans for Halloween IV (before selling their stakes in the franchise and the Akkads doing Return of Michael Myers) was a movie about a town that had banned celebrating Halloween due to some ancient tragedy, and then when some people around town try and celebrate the holiday in the present day some s*** goes down.
Pretty sure there was also some kind of ghost element to it, but that might have been a separate idea.
The H4 plot - the tragedy was supposed to be the 1978 Myers murders. Myers died at the end of H2, but would basically be haunting the town as a ghost due to the fear that people still had of him. He was also supposed to get like 20 feet tall at one point lmao

Damn that would have been wild
I wouldn't call it the greatest Halloween Film
but I respect Carpenter for trying something different
Its not better than the first Halloween. But i agree with you its cool that they tried to do something new. The idea with a new story for each new halloween movie would have been so cool.

I feel like and I took this part out the video for a reason, Halloween has been done better in man other ways, it's a great film but in the context of horrors and slashers especially the Giallo's that inspired it it pails in comparison

Giallo means yellow, the color of the paper that dimestore murder mysteries and crime thrillers were printed on. Michael Myers is the known killer, his identity is never in question, and he has a backstory. The score, the use of POV in tracking shots, the intensity of Michael's composure and his few mannerisms. Some of the most haunting scenes are him just standing there. The kills are very understated. Giallos were much more over the top.
In fact, the first giallo movie was Bava's The Girl Who Knew Too Much which is a direct reference to Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much. Psycho is closer to being proto-Giallo than Halloween being related at all.

Yea but slashers were inspired by Giallo we wouldn't have them without Giallo and I feel like they took a lot of the energy but not what made them work

So slashers were lifted from giallo but operate on a completely different principle in tension, the quality Hitchcock (who inspired giallo) made his entire career on?
