Probably my favorite song on Jesus Is King. Production feels cold, lonely, and miserable. Kanye still makes dark music that resonates with u. Fred’s outro is beautiful.
In the rankings of my favorite Kanye songs ever. Hands On, Follow God, and On God all on this list
It really is. It addressed literally everything that he felt (and he did) he was going to face when he announced he became a Christian.
Anyone that says JIK is barebones surface "I love Jesus" music should listen to this song.
JIK in general is underrated on here but yes, that song is 10/10. Kanye actually rapping his ass off tbh
yeah i love that song, its the only song where i felt the lyrics were actually interesting
YES.
the somber and slow production as well as Fred Hammonds contribution fits well with the subject matter and lyrics of the song which are easily the highlight.
First Kanye confesses that he knows he has been serving the Devil and is repentant of this. Then he goes on about how other Christians view his sudden change of fate and judge him for it despite the fact that they should be welcoming him.
Then in the final verse that is sung by Hammond, he ponders the idea that perhaps they are right in judging him and he deserves all the criticism he receives. He accepts whatever they give him and promises to continue on his Christian path in hopes of them accepting him and only asks them to pray for him.
The flow on Hands On verse :pog:
Man, you're never seein' home and you never see the domes
I love that you called the beat miserable and lonely, the mood this song manages to create is insane
It would be my top 1 but the hallelujahs in Selah and all of God Is is tooooo good
Imagine hating on JIK
"What have you been hearin' from the Christians?
They'll be the first one to judge me,
Make it feel like nobody love me,
Make you feel alone in the dark and you'll never see the light."
