I feel like John Williams got the bigger tracks but I like Hanz versatility

I bump hanz's music way more than John's. I like Hanz music for superman more than John's tho.

John's work on SW and Harry Potter on some other s***

    La Flama Blanca

Hanz zimmer didnt makes duel of the fates

Pretty much this. John will have one track more memorable than half of a Zimmer album

A better comparison would be Hanz and Ramin Djawdi

John Williams is one of the GOATs for sure, but Hans Zimmer’s scores are seriously just on another level

I go for Williams as the SW soundtracks are wild.

Binary Sunset, Duel of the Fates, Across the Stars, Battle of the Heroes, Anakin's Dream, Padme's Ruminations, Anakin's Betrayal, f*** it. The entire ROTS soundtrack>>>

    I like Zimmer too tho.

nah, they're not. rap just doesn't transform that well into it being played by anyone else but a vocalist who uses words.

and Prokofiev is million times better than John Williams (or Hans Zimmer).

Hmm I may have been mistaking them with someone else, but I’m pretty sure they made some weird comments about Lizzo a while back and caused this whole s*** storm at my university lol

Agreed though. Russians just do it so much better.

haven't seen every video they've made. In the videos I've seen it was more about rap songs being extremely monotonous when played as a normal music piece without vocals than discounting rap as a musical genre.

    John Williams

Tbh I agree to that to an extent...I mean have you ever seen the videos of Chief Keef with an orchestra? I mean the premise is cool but it almost always falls flat lol

No offense when I say this but I intended this thread to compare these two all time great MOVIE composers to each other since they're considered by most to be the best of their time. I'm not tryna compare or act like I know about composers from the early 20th century & s*** & this is not to knock the other OGs & GOATs (Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Bernard Herrmann etc)

  • To me its Williams because of all the iconic scores he has under his belt.

Lets not forget to throw in James Horner as a GOAT

  • Jun 29, 2020

    JW of course

Wild how the score on Tenet sounds like copycat of Hans Zimmer

Nolan prolly told Ludwig tbh yeah just do some Hans s***, surprised I haven’t heard some clock yet

Ludwigs been making a career off aping Zimmer

Yes, Time is iconic and the most well known piece of film music in the 21st century, John is a better composer in a classical sense but Hans is a much better film composer, I could write a whole essay on this stuff but clearly no one is gonna understand. John writes the same score over and over and over again, no versatility whatsoever, compare him to the classical composers he tries to imitate such as Gustav Holst, Igor Stravinsky, Richard Wagner, etc. and he pales in comparison, whereas Hans is completely original and single-handedly invented modern film scoring. When it comes to scoring to film Hans is better, this isn’t even a debate, same as there’s no debate that John is a better orchestral composer than Hans.

"Hans is completely original and single-handedly invented modern film scoring"

    Williams for sure

  • Jun 30, 2020

    Williams.

Morricone better than both tho tbh.
