How and what score would you guys rank them? I just finished the first movie and liked it a lot more than I thought I would. Is it up there with LOTR?
Don’t know why I waited so long to watch these. Always thought they were corny but I think I was wrong.
Harry Potter aint corny at all. Story is pretty dope actually. Acting isnt the best tho
That said:
1. Prisoner of Azkaban
2. Order of the Phoenix
3. Deathly Hallows (just see it as one big ass movie)
4. Goblet of Fire
5. Half Blood Prince
6. Chamber of Secrets
7. Sorcerers Stone
All great tho imo
PoA
OoTP
GoF
HBP
DH
CoS
SS
Maybe swap HBP and DH… I’m gonna start a rewatch tonight actually
Top 3 are def PoA, OoTP and GoF though.

7. Order of the Phoenix
8. Deathly Hallows Part 1
If we counting the FB films then
9. FB 1
10. FB 2
Damn really? I’m enjoying them.
I’m sure it’s good if you never saw it, I’ve just seen it so many times it’s the least interesting to me
the second one I really just don’t think is as good as any of the others
but the first 2 have the GOAT Dumbledore
Don't trust anybody who ranks OotP highly. They butchered the book and it's just a poorly put together film, no transitions between scenes at all
Half blood prince
prisoner of azkaban
goblet of fire
sorcerer stone
ootp
chamber of secrets
deathly hollows 1 and 2
Yall need to re-watch PoA. Thought it was the GOAT Potter movie, rewatched last year and it does not hold up. Bottom 3 movie
1. Half Blood Prince
2. Chamber of Secrets
3. Philosopher's Stone
4. Deathly Hallows 1
5. Goblet of Fire
6. Deathly Hallows 2
7. Prisoner of Azkaban
8. Order of the Phoenix
1. “PRISONER OF AZKABAN”
My favorite movie of all time; it’s the most accessible movie other than the first one and it’s the only one that feels like an amazing film in its own right instead of just amazing as the part of a whole; Voldemort isn’t in this one so the story is a lot more introspective which I dig; Harry really proves himself as a great wizard for the first time and I love the overall theme of finding light in the midst of extreme darkness. This movie truly awakened my greater appreciation and love for the technical aspects of film as it embodies spirit of my favorite childhood literary series while using amazing filmmaking techniques to do so. Alfonso Cuaron is a f***ing genius and I’m still mad he didn’t direct any of the other ones
2. “HALF-BLOOD PRINCE”
I got beef with this movie because they completely f***ed up Voldemort’s backstory; Harry’s romance was terribly acted and directed. But I love the overall atmosphere of this film; I’m not a fan of David Yates’ directorial style but his calm, stilted vibe actually really works here to capture the teenage awkwardness and calm of the storm feeling before we get to the finale; the cinematography is dark as hell but it really works and it feels like the most character-centric film of the series at this point besides Azkaban
3. “CHAMBER OF SECRETS”
I’d swap it with the first one depending on my mood but I like how it advances the story and covers wizard prejudice; it’s really an expansion of the discovery aspect of the first film but just in a darker way; the mystery, effects, performances are also better than the first one
4. “PHILOSOPHER’S STONE”
One of the greatest first films ever made in any franchise; there’s a lot to criticize about this movie but no one can say it didn’t set up the franchise perfectly; accurately captures that feeling of childhood wonder which gives the series actual weight once things start to get serious
5. “DEATHLY HALLOWS”
I count the two movies as one essentially; ranked it lower than most fans bc I don’t f*** with the DH book like that to be honest; it’s not the movies fault but Rowling’s conclusion felt half-assed; David Yates’ dry ass directorial style and inability to create tension ruined some scenes for me; there were also other silly missteps but I still love the movies and think it’s a decent conclusion to the franchise
6. “GOBLET OF FIRE”
This movie is actually more fun to watch than a couple of the others that I listed above it but it f***ed up the tone of the book too much for me; everything feels so over-the-top, Hermione and Dumbledore are throwing tantrums in every other one of their scenes which is completely OOC; the action is well-done but there is no real flow to the movie; we literally just go from big event to big event with little moments to breathe in-between;
7. “ORDER OF THE PHOENIX”
I still f*** with it but while it’s not as over-the-top as Goblet, it’s still too rushed and feels like a highlights reel of the book; David Yates’ direction is stilted and amateurish as f***; so many scenes are a complete shell of what they are in the book and fail to accurately capture Harry’s emotional tension; the cinematography is still some heat though and the final battle with Dumbledore was well-done, it was the only time in the series where they portrayed a real wizard battle
I’m sure it’s good if you never saw it, I’ve just seen it so many times it’s the least interesting to me
the second one I really just don’t think is as good as any of the others
but the first 2 have the GOAT Dumbledore
I’m conflicted on the Dumbledore thing. I def think the first one was the best overall as the second actor was too inconsistent but his portrayal in movie 3 is the best in any of them
oh s*** I just remembered you’re watching for the first time. I removed my spoilers @op lol
Yall need to re-watch PoA. Thought it was the GOAT Potter movie, rewatched last year and it does not hold up. Bottom 3 movie
Wrong Can't believe you put both DH movies above it, PoA is the most well made movie in the franchise by far

Cuaron's a great director but the story in this one is awful. Turned one of the best books in the series into the most unsatisfying movie besides Order of the Phoenix. Cut out way too much significant information and made the ending seem cheap
