TOTK kind of has it on lock as much as I would love to see a 9-10 scored starfield beat it
I don't think it's a lock at all. I mean it's fun cause I loved BotW but it just feels like a DLC or something.

Bargain bin classic for sure but hey the world needs those too. They can't all be Bloodborne.

Lmaoo never played any of those for the same reason I just bought into the hype for this one

Thats true, not every game needs to be a classic or reinvent the wheel
This thread to @ShintaroKago and @Swaygan now that the hype has passed

I played the first 3 in that post and all of them have some serious flaws. Critics need to stop being pussies and just give these games the 6s and 7s they deserve so that the general public doesn't get their expectations so high and end up disappointed when they actually play these games

I love how Dunkey's review of Horizon was basically "this kind of game needs to die now"

Clearly the general public likes these games
Clearly the general public likes these games
The general audience have strong critiques about these games which don't really get pointed out by critics. They're not bad games, but flawed ones i.e around a 7. But critics will usually give them 8s or 9s instead
I'm currently playing through Fallen Order and Idk how some of the biggest publications like GameSpot and IGN gave it 8 and 9 Game just has a sluggish and unfinished feeling throughout. The game froze on me because I went down the menu too fast while trying to quit back to the title screen
I died to a boss and encountered a bug where the boss doesn't spawn again, so I was just trapped in that room. The combat is Sekiro but ass. The exploration is Dark Souls but ass. The platforming is Uncharted but ass. A game like this should not be sitting at 80 on Metacritic, 65-70 is more accurate
And it's not even just these "good but not quite great" type open world games, game critics overrate everything. RDR2, which I think is great, should not be getting perfect scores when the gameplay is so awful. Puzzling design choices that hamper the game and make the gameplay worse than the first one e.g sluggish movement and aiming, looting animations every.single.time, weapons leaving your character's inventory when he's on a horse long enough, a confusing bounty system in a game about being an outlaw, missions that are very on the rails and limit player control/choice. RDR2 felt like Westworld S1 sometimes, like Rockstar were trying to make a simulation unfold in front of me instead of letting me play a game
RDR 2 is more of an 8.5-9, those games I mentioned are 6-7 if critics weren't so p****. But everything gets boosted in gaming publications, it's weird
