I think that is probably because the first two were shot on film and the rest on digital where this is shot on digital from the jump.

i think the mix of the og film so unbelievably well realised from a design perspective and it not being that old is making this seem pointless and too similar.

the dursley house is the exact same, hogwarts is going to look by and large the exact same because in terms of pulling those book descriptions into real life, the first movie just did it 10/10 and why change that. you can't improve from any of that stuff. every classroom and interior will be a replica of the movies, just because of how well the movies did all that stuff

when this was first announced i thought maybe they could lean into a darker more stylised burton-y, roald dahl, quentin blake type vibe with more expressionistic weirder designs visually but it seems they're going super safe. it's probably gonna be the biggest show ever so they didn't really make a mistake
