  • I found someone who had hung themselves on a tree outside my work a couple days ago and it’s playing on my mind.

I parked my car right opposite him chilled for 30 mins and never even seen him. It wasn’t until I opened up the shop that I saw him. He was just right there. Hanging. Definitely an image I won’t ever forget.

Has anyone else had a similar experience? How did you deal with it?

    Thanks man

Was just so surreal seeing it

I remember some dude on here worked as part of a clean up crew for CSI crime scenes

They would go in after CSI finished their investigation on a crime scene and clean up after them

He talked about cleaning up dead bodies that were part of homicides and s*** and how the smell was probably the worst he’s ever experienced

My grandpa just stopped breathing when I was visiting him and my grandmother

Another one was when I was in 3rd grade. I was biking with those 2 twins and one of them did a weird stunt to dodge a headgehog and fell on his head where part of his helmet got stuck on his skull and he died on the spot. Visited his brother a year or so later but the family kind of disappeared at one point. I dont know how I dealt with it tbh

Grandfather was lying dead in his bed when I went to check on him.

Was surreal to witness how he was just doing perfectly fine moments ago.

That stuff just sticks with you.

Prefer not to talk about it on here, but I will say this: there's certain images you'll never forget, but it gets easier with time and they won't force their way into your head so often. But to process these kind of things properly, make sure you deal with fully accepting what you experienced.

Personally, it took some time to be able to say it out loud. I would practice on lone car rides home just getting the words out, and it was healing. Therapy probably would have been effective, but I've always been very stubborn about it.

Don't be afraid to reach out to a therapist, friends, or family. And my DMs are open to ya.

I went to the morgue as part of my education. It was a middle-aged woman who was found days later. They suspected alcoholism. The corpse smelt like a mixture of wet wood and grilled meat. The skin had weird yellow and blue and green parts by now. There were lumps all over the body from water drying up inside. And she was naked of course. For me the smell was the worst. Later that day I went to KFC with someone...lol...I almost puked because the smell reminded me of the corpse. I couldn't eat that day at all. The smell was the worst. I wonder how a battlefield full of corpses must smell, so awful

sounds horrible. I saw a couple of dead (or presumed dead) bodies at different parts of my life, but almost never in a traumatic/discovering manner. it never really lingered on my mind, though of course it's a very enthralling experience

I got off work and just looked in the mirror so yeah.

My upstairs neighbour killed himself, didn't see the body but I will never forget the smell.

  • yeah, had a few patients pass away i had to clean up before they could be taken down to the mortuary

remember my first time i was covering the end of a shift for someone who's patient passed away before i came in, and they threw me in there soon as i clocked in before i even knew what happened. thought i'd be shook the first time seeing one but nope

  • stumbling on to someone who took their own life though is a whole different thing though. would have me f***ed up for sure

Never experienced, maybe i have as a small child but i can't recall it. All i know is this, seeing a lifeless body of a loved one or a friend has to be one of the most traumatizing things imaginable.

I feel for anyone who's experienced that.

dozens and dozens, over a hundred? not sure but possibly. seen people die as I was actively trying to save them. dead bodies are like kisses, you'll always remember your first one but after a while all they become blurs

I've always been great at dealing with death tho
