    In 2007, Wayne was dominating with no album out. His features were everywhere. Da Drought 3 was everywhere. And the anticipation for C3, especially after the leaks, was intense.

    I used to lurk SOHH(defunct rap forum) as a little kid and Wayne dominated half the forum discussion.

    Closest I can think of is Drake in 2015.

    What happened then

    Basically they played at prestigious clubs in NY and every label wanted to sign them

    Unfortunately the strokes while good band resulted like someone said in this thread 20 years of mid indie bands

    Not really tbh I love the strokes but nothing is better then is this it and they spawned so many trash indie bands which basically killed rock lmao

    I could say exact same about arcade fire also
