userI never been 30 and im not saying you should be listening to jazz at 30 lmao but i guess it’s because this current generation music is so skewed towards 17-24 year olds with the presentation and subject matter it’s hard to imagine at 30-40 riding round listening to niggas telling tall tales about jugging and finessing to afford percs and high fashion lol.
But this may be the generation that does that bc if you think about it, black people in their 40’s-50’s in the 70’s and 80’s vs. black people in their 40’s-50’s now, id bet over time mfs started listening to younger music/dressing younger/using certain slang and s*** lol bc of how much the culture has prioritized youth as hip hop grew; not wanting to look out of touch if you were 10 in the 70’s-80’s and 50 now and seen how niggas get clowned when they look old . May just be that continuing

i think the sample drill is needed to legitimize those drums. there's something about those drums that needs to be explored, because of that, i can see how the overly dark instrumentals surrounding them was very off-putting.
but it's crazy because i think that's why UK went ultra dark with the sound, so people could take those drums seriously. funny how things work out
