Yes, WLR is timeless
How is it a dumb name when it refers to a specific sound which is Miss The Rage kind of beats
You have a Carti avi like it’s simple
it's just Carti/WLR type beats than rage, when I hear rage type beats I'm thinking of some XXX hard s***, not edm type synths with plug 808s. Generalizing them as rage beats just doesn't sound right to me.
Difference is that Carti took larger creative risks and doesn’t come off as insecure when it comes to his music. Uzi only slightly switched it up on EA, and then Immediately backtracked n that sound. Now he’s doing everything to appease his fans. Lame s***
Carti is seen as groundbreaking because he does what he wants and keeps s*** exciting. Similar to Kanye in his prime. You never know what you’re gonna get because he just does what the f*** ever
2/3 of his albums are just basic Carti style there were no big risks or whatever and now he’s compared to Kanye
This my point, he raps over slightly different production for 1 album and he’s seen as next coming of Kanye
I just find it funny when all his peers have been creative and innovative since 2016 but he’s the only one who gets that label now because he didn’t produce music at the rate they did so he didn’t have the opportunities to get the critique they did

Baby voice was a risk. Especially to do that on his debut album
Whole lot of red was another huge risk and he did that with his second album.
He could’ve easily went the route everyone wanted him to do and he’d be way more popular than he is today.
I don’t think it’s fair to act like he doesn’t take risks or try and say the risks he does take are minimal
Also there really is not “basic Carti style” like that because he’s switched it up multiple times through a few different eras

I used to be strongly in the Uzi > Carti camp but after seeing WLR and then seeing how some 21 year olds who peaked 5 years ago have Uzi moving it’s not even a contest anymore

Baby voice wasn’t much of a risk when Young Thug had already been running around for years getting s*** for his high pitch voice
WLR was a risk I agree but why are we acting like all his peers were just making the traditional rap? All these guys came in with new sounds but somehow Carti is the only one who gets credit for it now
And basic Carti style is just him repeating the same bars most of the song only the production slightly changed
Now I’m mad bout dat 😡😡
