I lowkey noticed this but what's the issue? Prince is a goat, everyone has tried to emulate him in some fashion, just as people try to emulate The Weeknd

  • Until he calls himself "The artist formally known as The Weeknd", I won't think anything of it.

The early 1994, pre-Gold Experience era (I mean, though, not really, since there’d been several configurations compiled by the time), comes to mind right after reading your post... lol... except for the label issues, I reckon, and the fact that it’s way less original and not so wondrous obviously.

Well, I am vocal more about what I like from him in this section. But, I don't like EVERYTHING he does. Starboy and BBTM for example. That album had some filler/mid tracks on it. I just focus more on the positives than the negatives when it comes to talking about him in this section because we already got enough trolls who love to make bait threads and be a nuisance.

Here’s something I’d deem particularly informative on the matter:

Okay my apologies. But just admit you hate the man and move on You're not doing him any justice by trying to tear him down in his own sxn. You'd get more of the responses you'd like by posting in music sxn tbh.

Still, Prince has been way more influential, in general.

Prince is one of the greatest artists of all time, ofc he's widely influential. I just don't understand why op is trying to subtly tear him in down in his own sxn for just wanting to be a little like him

Before Prince, there had been Sly Stone; after Prince, there’s The Weeknd (allegedly).

I mean, in terms of The Weeknd’s looks, you can tell he’s been so wholeheartedly inspired by Prince that they start looking like carbon copies of what Prince would wear during certain eras of his.
