What is the point of doing this with every rapper instead of just accepting the standards dropped for what success is
In a time where you only really know an album dropping bc of ig rap blogs and the timeline and everyone listen to their own playlists, 50k should be the new 100k and 100k should be the new 500k lol. 500k is the new million and selling a million first week (which wont happen again btw until like Khaled son or Blue Ivy or North West or a situation like that lmao) should be double platinum lol
this what niggas gotta get through their head, there is no more 1 millil first week, even 500k no bundles i doubt happens again
any rapper selling 100k currently (off streams not no bundle s***) is a big release
200k off streams and ur top 5-7 rappers out
350k+ is reserved for the big 3
Bruh was gassed crazy on here
Tekashi69
Mario Judah
Yeat
Site loves hyping up flavor of the month trash rappers

flavor of the month for 3 years straight huh
Yeah but rappers that sold 500k first week also had songs as big as Tipsy and Espresso on the Hot 100
DMXs never had a billboard song crack the top 27. Yeat’s has been #2 so not really a good perspective to look at it from lol
I might be in the fringe minority who only likes 2093 and doesn’t like anything else yeat has done lol and that mainly was because of the production on that album

i like his early stuff, but his last few projects have been his best imo

you'll like his next album then, a dangerous lyfe, meant to be more in line with 2093
According to what
Lol and im too lazy to go back and find whatever particular songs but he def had those type of records that everyone used in reels and tik toks and s*** if that has to matter
he has no mainstream hits besides maybe that bell song
Rappers used to care about pop appeal
Correction: Labels did.
Back then, appealing to the radio, MTV, CD market, etc. was guaranteed to help boost rapper's sales because that was the only way to accomplish it.
Now, with the decline of radio, TV, and CD's, labels have been trying to push for streaming and social media clout but they're learning really fast how unsustainable it is.
25k streaming first week. Without the bundles, this would've looked really ugly. For perspective, this is half the streams of his last 2 albums and less than his debut album, "2 alive"
So what happened?
braindead take
if he's still the #1 selling album according to this graphic, how has the experiment failed?
Every artist has ebbs and flows, ups & downs. Yeat is doing just fine. Personally I don't LOVE the album itself but it's decent, way better than 2093.
But watch P R E T e N T I O U S R A P P E R lap these numbers while dropping on a Monday lmao
why even bring up an artist who's had such a longer career than Yeat? He's been out here since 2011.
let a pretentious rapper from Yeat's generation drop, nobody's listening to that mysterious s***

that's a crazy thing to reflect on man
we truly live in a different time
Chart placement is so fleeting
you'll have the top 10 song in the country and then 2 weeks later it's vanished from the top 50

lol get busy is not his biggest song
Maybe I'm missing something but how is 85k fw a "flop?"
Do ya'll realize how much rap sales have declined over time?
It's like some of ya'll are still stuck in the 2000's or early 2010's era where 300k+ fw was still normal.
Yeat doesn't even have crossover appeal like that so these numbers especially aren't bad for someone of his caliber.
what's his biggest song?
probably money so big or the song with drake
but he still has other songs with more streams than get busy
