Eminem post 8 mile
50 cent post Massacre
They took higher highs than ye ever had (GRODT era and MMLP-8 mile era) to lower lows than Donda or JIK
I understand you're probably just looking for attention, but I don't really get this stance. I don't think his new work is as good as his initial run, but it's also abundantly obvious that music is not his first priority right now.
Donda was the last time he locked in on an album, and even then it was for a haphazard stretch of a few weeks - compare that to MBDTF being made over 180 days according to Mike Dean, and Power alone getting thousands of hours put into it.
It doesn't make sense to talk about a "fall from grace" when the fall from grace has been borderline deliberate, I would think. The guy literally tells interviewers not to ask him about music
Donda was like Kanye & Friends, better than Ye and JIK but still not really a Kanye album.
Donda 2 was a full on disaster.
Imagine if you had heard Ye back when MBDTF dropped, and someone told you this is the level where Kanye will finally end up at.
MBDTF was also Kanye & Friends … multiple full blown posse cuts on that album. If that’s your main takeaway from donda I’m afraid you’ll have to put MBDTF in the same lense. Donda 2 is pretty not good but still interesting …. Clearly unfinished & and feels like a response to the rabbid demo-it is the Ye community was plagued by.
If I was given a glimpse into the current era of Ye’s music I’d only be disappointed if it wasn’t glaringly obvious he wanted to move beyond music since the Yeezy 2 came out
Are people really saying that JIK, Ye and Donda etc. are on Yeezys/MBDTF level?
Come on…
unfair to compare his discog to two of the greatest albums ever released. he will most likely never top those albums again. its like expecting MJ to drop another Thriller after Invincible or Prince to make an album equal to Purple Rain or Sign of the Times in the 90s or 00s
every artist has a peak they will never again reach
What the f*** happened to him?
It’s like all his talent got absolutely drained post 2015.
He went from being a perfectionist to dropping some of the worst music ever.
Did he fire all of his ghostwriters/producers or what?
It's called being busy.

Donda is his best album
If you look at most famous movie directors, their later films are usually less well received compared to their early work. Why is that? Because they are not trying to please audiences anymore, they are making art to please themselves.. I see Ye in the same stage now. He not out there to make MBDTF again. He already did that. He wants to make what he wants to make. Not caring about perfection and things like that
Pablo is a near classic
/thread
i think enough time has passed to say that it is. one of his most iconic eras
I’ll give you the attention you wanted because you’re not entirely wrong. You could argue that the focus went from innovating and being a perfectionist in his music died after wanting to be hot (angry his songs weren’t getting radio play) and that’s why he’s chose to do albums the way he did Pablo onward.
With that being said, his focus isn’t 100% music anymore and anyone can see that. He’ll get the itch to do music and lock in with the hottest artists just to do it rather than having a passion project that he wants to perfect. Donda, KSG, and Pablo are still dope projects imo
It’s pretty good but also the beginning of the downfall.
Shocking nosevide after that record.
KSG is an incredible project
Donda isnt on par with his early discog but compared to any of his contemporaries its an AOTY contender which is crazy to pull off when youre 40

Also, he has some of the best Spotify numbers in the world. Even if that's largely based on old catalogue, it objectively means he hasn't fallen from grace. Donda did well as an album too.
A fall from grace is when no one plays your music new or old, you can't sell tickets, you've lost most of your fans and get no praise.
Kanye's had a slight decline in music quality and said some stupid things. Pretty standard for an older artist in their third decade of music. He has better longevity than most artists
Being on this site taught me how delusional Kanye fans can be
What makes you say that in the context of this thread?

You want Kanye to be like every artist that when they have an album that does well they start cloning that album over and over
It would’ve been mad boring if we just got MBDTF clones
Kanye’s always gonna switch up his style

his only bad album is donda
Donda is much much better than the two that proceeded it
