jackets are a scam by the fashion industry. you only really need one or two but they are routinely the most fire AND most expensive items on offer from every brand/retailer
I feel you bro
That's why OP phrased it as if multiple jackets are "needed" but I can't imagine anyone going through life with only 1 jacket like a cartoon character when there are so many fire jackets out there to add to your rotation
With a true winter jacket (down parka kinda thing) you only need one imo
but with cold weather jackets as a whole you should definitely have a few types and colors to choose from
I specifically don’t like layering tbh. when I go to wear I’d wear my dress shirt and throw on my winter jacket and call it a day.
you sound dripless
in NYC and I have 11 jackets total
in the winter I'm usually falling back on about 3 of them
1. Lad Musician Asymmetrical Padded Bomber (old faithful 80% of the time)
2. Yves Salomon Classic Fur Lined Parka (just about 10% of the time if it's very cold)
3. Helmut Lang AW99 Astro Moto Parka (another parka, no fur lining throughout the body so it's lighter, also worn only about 10% of the time)
As far as rain goes I just have a good quality, sturdy umbrella and continue to wear my bomber.

OP (my IRL friend) only uses just 1 cold weather jacket for the entire fall/winter
I feel like he needs at least 2 considering the 1 current down jacket is not waterproof because snow/rain play a huge factor

Perfect
I feel like 11 is the perfect number for someone living in NYC

I can confirm this (OP is one of my best friends IRL)
OP doesn't "dress to impress" anymore he goes for more comfortable cozy/lazy fits now and then pairs them with a mainstream hype sneaker
He was simply making an observation considering you hate to layer (and also refuse to wear corduroy/white tees/white sneakers/trousers/etc.) and you end up putting together a random lazy fit and "call it a day"
You sound annoying
ima be annoying and fresh while u over there in ur dress shirt and canada goose parka

He doesn't even have a Canada Goose level parka anymore he sold his CG jacket last year

2020 the year of being comfy.
2020 the year of being comfy.
It's not 2020 anymore and you dressed the same pre-covid in 2017, 2018, and 2019 too

LOL every time I roast him you're always around to witness it
OP doesn't believe in using umbrellas/windbreakers and owns zero pieces that are waterproof/windproof
That's why OP (my friend) created this thread we were having a debate on it because when we hang out on the coldest winter days he'll just wear a hoodie and that's it even when he knows we'll be outside all day long
His drip in the rain literal not figurative
LOL every time I roast him you're always around to witness it
omg lol. how'd the birthday weekend go @op
