Well so far what we’ve gotten out of it are a ton of lazy ass cash cow shows and movies that are mostly awful and the ones that are “good” like Westworld or Stranger Things barely have merit either

It’s obviously not all bad as a number of respected filmmakers are getting blank checks to make what they want but i would argue the only filmmaker whos really made anything significant out of this has been Scorsese and even then his movie got screwed with theatrical distribution

I feel like that’s the case with the industry being oversaturated in general, and not the streaming industry itself.

But, I’m more so talking about the content that obviously marketed as being a huge selling point for these services. Not the random Netflix show that no one ever heard of until the week it’s coming out.

And also more so talking about the future. Not immediately.
Right now we’re still in the early days into the streaming wars. More so talking about about later in the decade when we’re really settled into this way of consuming media, and the war between Disney+, Netflix, and HBO Max(the only services I think anyone will care about) really kicks off in full force

I think that while we are in the early days of the streaming wars, these corporations are looking at what is selling, and typically that is content that can be milked for seasons on end that is just not good at all. Even the whole blank check thing for filmmakers hasn't proven to be financially great for any streaming giant yet and their best performing material are typically awful movies like Bird Box and Bright

So while we are in the early days, they are definitely looking at what the crowds are saying, and so far that is concerning imo.
