It’s more about the fact that these people have deals to get money from the box office and having a film on a streaming service cuts into that deal which was made before the service was made. Do some research.

"Just updated now to Roku version 50.45 and it actually works for the first time since they started the service. It shouldn't have taken this long for HBO to fix the utter POS app for Roku but props to the company for finally doing it. It's still not perfect but at least i can now browse the app without it taking 10 minutes to load. I can now watch movies without the app crashing and resetting my TV. We actually have a full fledged MY LIST under your profile, bravo."
