As a whole the story in those seasons is a mess but there still some really cool battle scenes and stuff
absolutely. spoils of war is still jaw dropping even though some parts don't make sense.
In the first season there are no loose ends and every plot point leads to something.
But by the time we get to the final season almost nothing is making sense anymore.
Just shows how very little D and D actually understood GRRM.
The show that Dumb and Dumber were rushing to do after GOT ended up being cancelled smh

also if you go and watch the first season and immediately compare it to the last couple, the vibe is just... gone. it doesn't feel like a fantasy world. it feels more sterile and gray.
first few seasons, thanks to martin's groundwork and worldbuilding, felt like a fully fleshed out world with traditions and well thought out cause and effects, whereas later on it just feels like dress up. like you can tell that they're acting.

They were supposed to have a Star Wars movie too I think that got cancelled.
What a fumble for them.

Any chance it got cancelled because of how they butchered that final season? Lol
Season 5 was shaky but got really good. Season 6 was great. Season 7 was okay but that's when some things started to feel off...and that was the whole show. Wish it was resolved.
for me season 5 was really bad if only for how close in proximity it was to 4, which was some of the best television i've ever seen.
every arya scene immediately becomes boring as s*** (i don't wanna watch thsi b**** do chores nigga wtf).
6 was better but they never really reached the heights of the first 4. especially not with 7 and 8. cool battles though.

I don't know if that has ever been confirmed or not but it would make sense.
I also think Star Wars movies weren't doing as good as Disney wanted and they scaled down a little bit.

Yeah season 5 is almost embarassing compared to the absolute peak that was Season 4, but there were a few cool moments in the back half of the season. Same s*** in season 6.
That Arya storyline needed some tightening you're right lmao
I’ll never understand why D&D didn’t just pass the show off to someone else instead of rushing to end it
It was obvious that D&D had grown bored with GOT and were ready to just move on, but why wouldn’t they just give the show to writers and directors that they trusted and had a passion for the series
I’m sure there are plenty of directors and writers who would’ve LOVED to inherit the show from D&D, and we could’ve gotten at least 3 more seasons that actually felt inspired
loved season 1, but kinda passively.
it was good, did not respark any sort of GOT fire inside me.
excited to watch the new season with my fam though

If I had to guess it's either Ego or they wanted the pay check.
Supposedly they and GRRM had a falling out around season five which probably points towards ego's clashing.

Brings me joy that this happened.

I have the exact opposite opinion of 6. I think the highs of 6 are amongst the best in the series, but when it’s not hitting those highs it’s kinda just there.

i was gonna watch that three body problem show until i found out they did it. im just gonna read the book now.
All the vids coming from the premiere and their press tour. The hype is building man. Feels good
Tbh my bets are on Daemon even without his dragon. Daemon would go for the kill quickly and would fight dirty, Jon would try to be too honorable

Tbh I just don’t think most critics are fond of the show for some reason .
They are always complaining about the slow pace, the giant cast of characters, and that they want more action
But to me that sounds like they want the show to be like the later years of Game of Thrones, rather than the slow burn political drama of its early years
It’s like they forgot what made GOT great in the first place

The reviews are mixed that’s how you know the show will be fine imo only way u know it’s a stinker is if it’s universally bashed (even then not 100% true)
