Prior to that he doesn't want to be king, says he'll be a terrible one, and just wants to be left alone to watch children (including his own b******) fight each other and do whatever other depraved s*** he does. Once the crown is on his head however, and he turns to see all of the common folk who actually support him, he takes to the role almost immediately. Proudly and triumphantly raising his sword to bask in the praise and applause.

I think he's grown up somewhat. Respectful of the position and happy to get the attention/adoration that he gets as king (at the end of the day that's all he ever really wanted) but he's still gonna be a bit of a d***head because that's all he's ever been.
