But everything in this show is nuanced
There are multiple interpretations. I think the show has provided evidence for my perspective on Kendall's parenting. I'm not saying he doesn't care about them, just that he's not as present as he should be and he feels guilt about this/worries that they'll notice and stop loving himyea you right. but that's also not his fault that he couldn't find the gift.
but talking about nuance what if Rava lied about bringing the gift. can't remember if his assistants said they got something from here

only thing that has pointed to it was when Roman said (not a credible person) that when they met which was quickly negated because Roman and Logan have been stalking them

Kendall is obviously an absentee father. He works out of Rava’s apartment for the first few episodes of the season and never once do we see him with the kids.
Only time he really talks about his kids’ well-being is when he’s doing some sort of moral posturing.

the way he felt about not finding the gifts from them tells how much they mean to him. How would he know what they got him if he hasn't seen it. Wouldn't the gift be a surprise
in episode 2, when he left his siblings to talk to sandy and stewy he said he went to say hi to his kids who just got back to Rava's house. Never showed it but that might have also been an excuse maybe they never showed it.
We also saw how he reacted when Logan smacked his son and the whole atmosphere during that dinnerHis family live in separate homes and obviously Rava is the primary parent so it makes sense that they are more with her so we don't see much of them
that was definitely just a cover up / excuse

there was basically no way a spoiled, manic depressive d*** addict was ever going to be a good dad anyway. he CARES about his kids but that doesn't make him a good dad in execution
