I watched the pilot, was very confused, and then read the graphic novel. Came back in 2 weeks and watched the show as it aired.

I seriously cannot imagine someone fully appreciating the series without knowing the original story. So much of the show will be unnecessarily confusing and seemingly pointless. You’ll lose a lot of the impact.

I’m surprised there’s so little discussion of Lady Tru or whatever. Her story was absolutely terrible, almost derailed the show for me.

Well tbh this show is already unnecessarily confusing and pointless lol

Watching different YouTubers react to this show has been fun. They be so engaged after each episode ends, lol. I miss that feeling.

Watching the movie first would probably make it a better experience but it definitely isn’t required, because the show isn’t a direct sequel to the movie. The show picks up where the book left off, which has a notably different ending than the movie does

Watch the motion comic on YouTube! Way better than this or the movie. Then get the book if you enjoy that so you can read all of the between-issue stuff.

    Loved this series.

Ya I was 7 episodes deep on that but couldn’t wait so I just jumped into the show, imma finish it before going back to the show

  • I recommend the motion comic. It's narrated really well too. This was a good show too but I see why it caught some flack (The novel is broader in scope and Rosharch isn't a white supremacist in the book; he's just a moral absolutist and Adrian veidt is a utilitarian, which makes it compelling. The series didnt focus much on this element)

I loved Dr Manhattan but I agree that the show went downhill once he came in. I’ve said it before ITT, but I thought the plot just went way too far off the rails towards the end. Like, the group that was basically the KKK had a motive that was way too advanced for me to believe a KKK kind of group could pull off. I know it was actually the organization behind it but still. I was enjoying it more when it was basically a political thriller. The sci-fi elements could’ve still been there just handled differently.

    spoiler

I’m using a SPOILER tag here but I guess KTT2 is different

So if you haven’t watched yet STOP READING

    SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

Like, the KKK/cyclops wants to remove Redford from the presidency. Their plan is to find Dr Manhattan, build an advanced machine to absorb his powers, and then use those powers to take over the government.

At the point that you’re creating a machine to steal his powers why not just replicate what give him his powers to begin with?

Or, idk, use the video of Ozy admitting everything (that you have in your possession and use to recruit people), to uncover to the public that Redford was involved in a massive cover up and turn the public against him? Especially since the group is clearly so inspired by Rorschach. Like exposing what Ozy was doing was Rorschach’s whole thing, he died for it, he spread the word with his journal, so it would make thematic sense for a group inspired by him to follow through and bring the truth out
