I still don't get how this show is so highly rated. Watched the whole thing and thought it was okay with some good standout episodes. The final few eps were CW level bad in terms of visuals/direction and that Dr. Manhattan was laughably bad.
Just a heads up but Watchmen changes a major event that took place in the graphic novel that might not explain something that occurred in the universe in the HBO Watchmen series.
Compared to the series, the movie was a let down

Facts. The story was so basic and dragged out too long. Outside Jeremy irons the acting was trash

Agreed, it really got worse as it went on
Started watching it couple months ago
First 2 episodes were ok ish, middle portion was unbearable, made me stop watching actually
But ye yall were right it picks up at the flashback episode
People keep saying that this show gives them Leftovers vibes so I am gonna tap into that now.
Still have to watch the motion comic on youtube at some point
as someone often skeptical of "golden age of tv" hype this is definitely one of the more worthy shows to be part of that. It's by no means a masterpiece imo but it's creative and visually inventive, beautifully designed and directed and pushes the storytelling of the medium forward
second to last episode's got to be some of the best tv oat
show was great
Real talk
just won best limited series at the emmys
glad it didn't go under the radar. A God Walks Into Abar is one of the coolest things ive ever seen, tv/movie/video game.
i watched watchmen, and then went straight and binged all of leftovers after hearing its a bit similar
two goat shows

i actually watched the leftovers after watching this and i personally wouldn't compare the two
Watched this over thanksgiving break. I thought the ending was a little melodramatic with who gets treated as good vs bad (maybe worthy vs unworthy hero is better phrasing) and sorta went against the ethos of the universe. Like, there are plenty of things this series changed that I thought was great, but the most essential thing about Watchmen is the grey morality of its characters. In this show, there are pretty clear good and bad guys. The only confusion is through plot reveals which keep you on your toes, but overall there’s not a lot of room to debate which characters seemed to be on the most moral footing.
Which all that being said, and it is a big issue I think, I still quite enjoyed the show. Episodes 4-8ish were all straight fire and the storytelling itself was phenomenal. I just wish the ethics had more complexity
