Sep 4, 2021krishna boundyeah you're right, that's definitely true. albums like doja cat's everyone said flopped but then had insane residuals prove this. first week sales are definitely increasingly dated but it's still pretty hard to gauge because you had albums from like a few years ago with 800k sales through bundles and other rules and now bundles don't count and other streaming rules are changed but those old sales aren't retrospectively changed, but some people are comparing numbers on new releases to those earlier in the decade releases and it's completely skewed the size or relevance of artists. It was the same when streaming era began and people were trying to compare a 500k stream artist to a 500k CD pure album. completely different metrics
yep,tyler won and doja flopped,and doja has sold 50k every week for the past 5 weeks while tylers album is not on the charts at all.
its really stupid to measure these at all but yeah
