I think I agree with him though. Something definitely needs to be adjusted when Taylor Swift’s Folklore album couldn’t clear 1 mil first week.
I wanna say from like 2000-2017 at least 1 album sold/streaming equived a million first week domestically. We haven’t had an album do a million since, with the last one being, ironically, Taylor Swift.
Whether its a streaming company issue with how they value the streams or a Billboard issue, the formula obviously needs to be changed.
4 years without an album “doing a million first week” makes no logical sense. We clearly aren’t at an equilibrium between the streams and the actual sales anymore with the current formula.
Why do you need an album to go a milli tho.
Yes drizzy you did it again. Im feating. We sold so much. Im earning so much from this. I can use this in arguments again yesss f*** every rapper that sells less. Drizzy #1

Adele coming
Same petty ye stans out here acting like drake doing big numbers shouldn't be celebrated would be here clowning the GOAT if washed up ye outsold him

That’s a fair question, but i could also say…why do we really even need to try and do an “equivalent sales” formula at all? It’s just for label/artist bragging rights at this point.
But since it does exist, it does appear to me that the streams are currently undervalued. The milli just served as a reference point for me to confirm my suspiscion that the numbers didn’t seem right.
Another poster alluded to it, but if someone like Adele drops and doesn’t hit a million first week, that will be the biggest tell.

New rules era. We probably only gonna have 1-2 albums doing over 500k first week a year until they change the rules again.
Only person that will do over 500k this year is drake. Unless Adele drop.

It wouldn't even have been a big deal if ye stan didn't talk themselves into thinking CLB would sell less than Donda. They got the Drake stans blood thirsty for war.

If Kendrick has damn level singles he can easily do 500k but yeah only a select few artists can sell that much in the streaming era
I wonder how much Post will do fw..
350k

Post is big but he’s also a heavy bundler like Travis and Weeknd
These new billboard rules won’t be as kind to them

Not in this era and when bundling is banned, which is the point he's making
Taylor beat Drake?
This kinda an L. Whole time he was focused on Ye when Taylor was his actual huckleberry.
