Trav is an outlier of sorts because a big part of his pop stimulus is Kylie
Travis will probably be the last rapper to do what we consider real superstar numbers.
But being a superstar is relevant to the field. So I think Baby My Turn era is the bar for being a superstar of the new gen.
Drake introduced Durk to a new audience yes, but Durk already had buzz in Chicago and his other features on other artists songs helped him to where he is today(aka his work ethic)
These are pretty solid numbers for Durk. I think the final numbers end up being a bit lower because the album flopped on Spotify but it should easily debut with over 100K units. That's a win for him.

I think the 20s belong to YSL
Their output has just as much staying power and impact as My Turn
First week sales are mostly how anticipated a project is. If adele dropped another album 6 months after she dropped her last she wouldn’t do half her normal sales. Does that change her status?
Agree to disagree on The Weeknd. Don’t want this thread to turn into a Weeknd bashing thread
I'm not sure about half, maybe a bit, but if her audience seriously can't handle more than 12 songs in a year then there's clearly something wrong with her music surely?
this never happened with Drake even though the gap was a bit bigger. 20 song Views May 2016, 22 song More Life April 2017, 25 song Scorpion June 2018. About 20 features between that too. Like 87 ish songs dropped in slightly over 2 years
if an artist's music is seriously loved then surely they'll eat a huge amount up. Thugger's issue is just that he's not that loved by the mainstream, they clearly prefer Gunna/Lil Baby & now Durk. Sure SL2 did pretty well but that project had one of the most stacked feature lists I've ever seen

soon people need to start having a serious convo about Spotify's weirdly low numbers for these rappers since 2020. They're all doing 5x more streams on AM. Summer, Rod Wave, Lil Baby, Durk, Gunna.

My turn is almost just as big as astroworld

Without all the Nike sponsorships, fashion trends, and festival

What you think it is? Maybe more rap fans use AM?
Also how do you know 5x more streams on AM? Didn't know AM released daily stream numbers

Cuz Spotify washed and used by foreigners

most americans use an apple device and apple music is more ready for use than downloading spotify. if spotify came with phones that would change.

He’s right if you think about AW. Last big album of that scale that also had the massive popularity as well. I’d honestly count Donda but he’s an og ofc.
@BigDckBandit i want u to feel this deep in ur soul
Dont even reply and say u dont care bc u dont hate durk
Just feel this inside, internalize it

Many hip-hop fans simply prefer Apple Music over Spotify. It's been that way for years now.

Does AM have the feature where you can see what ur friends listen to like on Spotify? I haven’t used it in a while. If they added that and a wrapped I’d switch back so fast
