    Tides are turning. Idk if YB has ever sold this much despite all his past projects outselling Durk’s. Not a good look for YB tbh

    generally yeah but then you got situations where people like thug flop but they still did 90k or so
    it’s varied

    It’s all situational. First week sales are just how much hype for that particular album. I don’t think it defines the status of the artist.

    Like with Punk thug sold 90k but it would’ve sold more if he didn’t cut the hype in half by dropping SL2(123k) 5 months earlier

    DawnFM sold 150k but Weeknd is the definition of a megastar

    I looked and spotify streams were really low. The songs with feature werent that much higher. On apple music where most of his streams are coming from he occupies 17 out of top 18... he wouldve done that without the morgan wallen feat which is his 3rd lowest.

    This is Durks biggest week of his career. YB been there and done that already twice. And did it once as a 19 year old kid

    He hasn’t made (or rather his ghost writers) havent made good music in years. Not really a fair comparison

    Yeah he went crazy in the clb Donda Cold War days
    Very obvious that Kanye has had a jump up in relevancy culturally and musically back to something around 2016 and Donda connected very well generally with listeners compared to ye and JIK let’s just hope he cleans up Donda 2 for when it releases to streaming inevitably so the run can continue

    The Weeknd isn't a megastar, he would have sold way more than 150k if he was. Dawn FM wouldn't be getting outsold by 9 month old Planet Her/SOUR or The Highlights if he was a megastar. He's a "megastar" in name only, his music isn't popular enough to be labeled a megastar

    I don't think that tour is gonna be a sell out, LA sold out but the other cities are gonna struggle badly. We'll see though, I'd love to be wrong lol. If he does sell it out he's 100% a superstar

    just feels weird as hell to label an artist selling 150k a superstar. If he's a superstar what the hell are Taylor/Drake/Kendrick doing 3-4x that?

    First week sales are mostly how anticipated a project is. If adele dropped another album 6 months after she dropped her last she wouldn’t do half her normal sales. Does that change her status?
