For reference: Drake, Pac, Wayne, Hov (even if he wasn’t technically the top guy commercially), Em, 50 and arguably Snoop and Biggie are examples of rappers that checked all these off at one point

  • Says a lot that Drake is the only one who checks all these boxes.

You could just type drake fr. He checks on what a flawless rapper is. Wayne coulda had it but he doesn’t have as much versatility as drake

    Wayne created versatility.

Drake even said Wayne pushed him to sing more.

Cool. He’s still more versatile than his mentor

He may not have written all his lyrics and consistently reign commercially over his peers, but Kanye checks these boxes off from College Dropout to Graduation

Neither of them 2 have the appeal to do it. We talking someone who can basically do wat drake is doing. That type of variety and appeal. The only thing holding that x kid back was allegations

it gets clearer as time goes on that he was going to be the #1 rapper of his generation (if he wasn't already)

im not gonna say drake level but he was the only one who really has that "it" factor that came onto the scene in a minute

If we’re talking about the crème of the crop of an entire genre it should be rigid and nearly impossible to fulfill

    Very good point

  • Aubrey graham checked those boxes in my book

His era yea but I’m saying his package isn’t as perfect as drakes imo. Obviously Wayne run is more influential and impactful still of course

If a rapper is to be deemed worthy of “the crown”, they must possess all of the following nine traits at high levels for at least three consecutive years:

    • Represents an ideal and lifestyle that a certain huge group identifies with, both accurately and accessibly through their image, voice and subject matter
    • Has a notable personality
    • Has a striking and impressive voice and flow that compliments any style (especially the biggest current sounds of their era)
    • Is known for hard hitting and memorable/quotable lyrics
    • Makes great hooks
    • Excels at crossover hits, hard anthemic bangers and introspective songs
    • Is known for a specific sound that is mainly associated with their brand
    • Proven ability to make an iconic project with at least a handful of songs that captures the heart of the culture
    • Propped up by a territory as a hometown hero

And which current rappers check off these boxes in your opinion?

    - BRAVE

Eh, you just made it seem that Wayne wasn't in Drake's position when he was at his peak.

    Dude was featured everywhere.
